Sears drives me crazy with this stuff. Their shipping costs are always excessive, and I don't understand why some things are shipped to the stores and others aren't. Why can't they just do free ship to store/pickup like other brick and mortars?

Because Sears doesn't do ANY ship to store. They only offer free pickup for items that are stocked in a store. If it is a catalog-only item, or an item a particular store doesn't stock, it's not eligible for free pickup.

Yes, it's dumb that they can't throw it on a truck and let me go pick it up, but it is what it is - and it ISN'T "ship to store".

Actually, it looks like they're rolling it out for some catalog/online-only items.

These Woodpeckers tools are usually direct from the manufacturer.

My Back-ordered date keeps slipping out. It now says 12/9. However, that was the 3rd one that was added that I didn't order. The other one says not yet fulfilled still with a due date of 11/20. Which was when it got ordered. One shipped though. Might have to give em a call.

The standard 1/2 should be delivered today.

My flex is showing a ship date of 12/13...for that price, I can wait.

I posted this in the tool forum but thought i would add it here as well

I'm thinking of grabbing one of these as my first grinder but have a couple of questions for you experienced peeps;

is this buy the disks and get the grinder free for $150.00 a "great deal" or just ok?
it's 10 amp - 11,000 rpm Model D28402

http://www.wylaco.com/dewalt/Free-DE...ap-Disks-Promo

they also list this one that is 13 amps but 9,000 rpm model D28115 for $132.46 with 3 flap disks or 5 grinder wheels free, but it's also on amazon for only $135.66 with free shipping but no free disks.

http://www.wylaco.com/DEWALT-4-1-2-i...-Special-Promo

the free grinder deal sounds "great" but i'm not familure with with them and money is really tight so if its just an ok deal i will wait, also it doesnt say free shipping so I'm guessing shipping will be extra as well which of course bumps the bill up more.

I may have missed the answer to this question, but what is the diffference between the Wiha Super Duty Chisel Drivers (in the five piece kit) and the Heavy Duty Black Series MicroFinish drivers? Thanks.

The five piece on sale today is the Ergo soft handles, Microfinish are hard non-slip handles (better IMO).

Hmm, I caved and ordered the current special for the ergos even though I don't "need" them. Too many raving reviews for their drivers. Wonder now if I should cancel? Are the ergos still worth it at that price? ($30)

They are half price so definitely worth, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Wiha drivers......you may even prefer the Ergo soft?

Not sure if this is of much use for in the garage but Best Buy has an APC battery backup for $39.99, regular $79.99. I just purchased two for my computer room and one for my living room.

I have the 750 version of that...and it is quite disappointing. Nowhere near the rated output, so dont expect any miracles with it! It says estimated up time for my desktop is 15 min, but in reality like 2 minutes. Just enough to shutdown...but i guess thats what it's made for anyway.

Thanks much....now can I resist??? :headscrat

Don't talk crazy. Resistance is futile.

If they're different, that just means you need both.

I ordered the 12 piece set from Amazon a month ago, then ordered the black handled individual chisel drivers at half price, and also ordered the Black Friday special set, along with the side cutters, some torx, some ...

:Help:

I have 3 of those. They work reasonably well. But they do only provide a couple of minutes, just enough time to save your work and hibernate or shut down.

Wiha has added a couple of wrench sets as part of their Cyber Monday deal:

http://www.wihatools.com/special_28.htm

I bought a set of the 15 SAE wrenches for $30. They're imports, and that's made clear in the description, but made to "German standards," whatever that means.

With my luck these will have the harbor freight logo etched out, but $30 for a set of 15 from Wiha, I'd figure I'd try. Especially since the set goes up to 1-1/8" in size (I believe the 1-1/4 listed is a typo. The set's description on the site goes only to 1-1/8.)

Those of you who have already made a black friday order can email their customer service or add a note to the order and ask if these can be mixed in with your prior order, to save double shipping. Wiha has been good about adding freebies to orders after the fact, maybe they can do this too?

MAC 2" Mini Angle Grinder $75.00 BIN. MAC asking price is $185 and SO's version [AT215] is just over that.

http://www.mactools.com/shoponline/product/tabid/120/p-318250-38-2-angle-die-grinder.aspx

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AG200-mac-tools-2-air-grinder-/220900402939?vxp=mtr&hash=item336eb0a6fb

I've been wanting one of these for awhile for light grinding and tight quarters grinding [its about the size of most mini angle die grinders] but couldnt justify the price. The AG200 are rebranded CP7500s but those still sell for a bit more than what this seller is asking.

Replacement discs can be purchased from MAC for about $1 ea in 3 different grits if memory serves.

I have no affiliation with the seller and didnt want to post until i got one in hand. He's a stand-up guy, great communication and dropped it in the mail within hours of payment. The auction states pick-up only but he will gladly ship via USPS flat rate boxes, just need to request an invoice after using the BIN. Obviously shippings costs are in addition to the BIN price [$8-$10]

Mini Grinder is made in Taiwan. He also has a new MAC reversible cut-off tool [made in USA with global components] and 1/4" air ratchets. I know he has a few mini grinders left so just shoot him a message or keep an eye on his auctions if you dont see any listed for sale.

+100!

I only own the bigger APC's, I have 2 rackmount 1400's and a 1250 Breadbox plus a Best Technologies 1400.

Run time on the Best, actually tested by pulling plug, with a 50" Plasma, Tivo, and amp is about 20 minutes. The rackmount APC feeds a computer with a dual head card, over clocked i7, and a 24" LCD is about the same. The bread box does the cable modem and the wifi router and the last APC feeds the bedroom tv and tivo.

The biggest cost of owning a UPS is replacing the batteries every three years, just like a car you'll spend more on ownership that the actual cost of the unit over time.

I had been buying the werker batteries after Batteries Pluse quit carrying the panansonics but the last 2 sets crapped out 28 months before they swelled up.

Found sets of 4 12v 9Ah on ebay delivered for $80 and thats cheaper than BatPlus and cheap insurance to me to protect my stuff from the power company. Our power up here in MD from pepco is dirtier than a ********** in tijuana, and thats not including the spikes or browns!

If your're going to buy a UPS buy it BIG, it should have at the minimum 2 batteries, 4 are better! I bought my parents a APC 1500 about 7 years ago, the standup version, thats probably about a 900w, it keeps their TV and cable box going for about 10 minutes and is on it's third set of batteries.

BTW NEVER plug a laserjet printer into a UPS unless you want to buy a new printer AND a new UPS!

Can one just replace the battery in the UPS with higher-capacity one? Or using 4 instead of 1 battery in parallel?

Technically you can increase the Amp hour rating and get some extra run time. If your UPS comes with a 12V 7ah you could probably run a 9Ah and be fine. The problem lies on the logic board used to calculate run time, they often get confused with higher rated batteries and I have seen some refuse to power up, some not charge and put up an error code, and some that simply would not stop beeping!

I had one Best Tech 1400 that would take nothing other than 4 identical 7.5Ah or it wouldn't even come one, no mix of 7Ah or 9Ah would kick it over.

I've seen guys take old APC breadboxes (before SMART) and use a pair of 18Ah for remote telco sites to achive some seriousl run times but I'm not sure I'd do that at home.

For under $50 you can get a good used APC 1000Va rated at over 670W all day long on fleabay, one example.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/APC-Smart-UPS-SUA1000JB-1000-VA-Tower-UPS-/320800837407?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab1384f1f

Even if you spend another $40 on a new battery you've got a better UPS than you can get today for under $90 and be good for the next three years.

Need more runtime? Nearly triple that meager 670W with this 1980W beast!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300628598724 This will cost you just over $100 to replace batteries.

I just picked these out in a search for "APC SMART", I'm not affiliated in anyway, just using for examples most people here can do a battery swap where most others wouldn't even consider it, deals to be had for DIY'ers

I just bought a load of 16 1400's from the state I'm picking up tomorrow, they're all rackmounts but I'll probably sell some on CL and fleabay or here if there is any interest. They'll look like these if all the faceplates and trays are there! http://www.ebay.com/itm/170730851521

Forgive my ramble, it's sleepy time!

Anyone know of good deal on a 6pt. metric combination wrench set available now? I see Sears has a set of 12 raised panel wrenches for $29.99 but I don't know if they are the quality of the older USA made wrenches, they don't state COO.

Any other deals out there?

The Craftsman raised panel wrenches are still made in the US. There are a few threads here comparing old and new. The consensus (or at least the majority opinion) seems to be that the new Cman RP are actually better than the old, with better tolerances, wider machined edge on the shank, and flank drive type contact on the box ends.

Sears has extended their Cyber Monday 15% off tools sale, so it's still on.

Those wrenches are made in India by a company named Baum, and they are stamped Baum on the wrenches.

http://www.baum.co.in/

I don't own any and have never seen them in person. I was just interested in finding out more about them when they were first released by Wiha.

Interesting-- thanks. I just got an email from Wiha stating they were able to combine the wrenches with my Black Friday order (drivers, dial caliper, cutters) and so I only have one shipping charge. I have to give a big shout out to Wiha customer service for that.

It'd be nice to see those folks that identify themselves as such a douche get blacklisted from sites like that.

Pretty much.

You really need to gauge what you're putting into it, and determine your watt draw.

A 650VA unit is only 390W and a 750VA is only 450W.

If you check out APC's website, there's actual runtime graphs there that will show you how long you get with what watt load.

The 650VA unit asked about has a ~4m run-time at full load, ~13m at half load (200W) and ~37m at 100W, at least, per the chart.

Much like automobile MPG ratings, though, these are in ultimately optional conditions.

The batteries in the BackUPS units are kinda crappy, and at work, we don't consider them anything other than a temporary protection until generators kick in.

For anything serious, we move up to SmartUPS models, which have bigger/better/more batteries and longer runtime.
