huh... my grainger order changed from "back-ordered" to "Not Yet Picked Up". Guess I need to give them a call tomorrow and see whats up.....I be damned, My card is also showing as a pending transaction for today.

There might be hope for them after all...I was convinced they were pulling this **** on purpose especially after all the last debacles.

BTW I ordered on 11/25....although I should know better than to count my chickens, especially with this retail establishment.

haha, i'd check grainger, but it says page can't be found. Guess everyone else is too. I got one of mine, but I also ordered 11/20. Well, I got the other non flex, 2nd flex is still up in the air. still no charge.

What's the COO/manufacturer of those Kobalt sockets? That's a nice price, but are they just another rebadged Danaher line? I bought a set of Napa and wouldn't mind an upgrade.

Taiwan IIRC. But is it really an issue at $20? I have a bluepoint set that cost me 5x as much.

Decent deal, if you need an inexpensive light duty impact driver: HF 12V Lithium Ion 1/4" Hex Impact Driver. On sale for $60, which includes charger and battery. Use 20% off coupon to get it for $48.

Not to be contrary but,

http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00917428000P

For $56 after sears2011 code, I'd say the craftsman is worth an extra $8, if for nothing other than the 9 month longer warranty and the zippered case.

Sears looks like clone of the Bosch PS40 impactor I have, and the HF is half the torque, neither one looks robust enough to do much of anything. I would look one or two steps up the food chain.

Interesting. Mine seems to work great for light duty. What would you consider as a stronger alternative?

Guess I was late to the party on the Grainger SK deal. I went ahead and ordered one anyway, fully expecting it to get cancelled but if it shows up, merry xmas to me...

I won a Craftsman Toolbox

I owe somebody a big thank you for sending me to Ace Hardware. Who posted the ad for the Gearwrench wratcheting wrenches that was on sale at Ace for $9.99. I went in on Friday and bought the 4 piece metric and a set of Craftsman screw drivers for $9.99 each.
At the register, they sent me over to drop my name in the box for a drawing for the tool box. They called yesterday said ole Noggin had won. Went to pick it up.
Knuckle head son in law will probably get it.
Cheers!,
Noggin

We're contacting you about order #. Unfortunately, we recently discovered that an error caused the following item(s) to be displayed at an incorrect price:

Bosch CLPK232-181 18V Max 2-Tool Combo Kit

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of items on our site may be mispriced. However, this was our mistake, and we'll honor the incorrect price for one of the items you ordered. We're unable to honor the price for multiple quantities of this item. Therefore, we've adjusted the quantity of your order to "1". We're sorry for the disappointing news.

The correct price is listed on our website now, so if you'd like to place another order for more of this item, you can do so here:
le sigh.
Wait, that actually sounds hopeful. Although its ETA was pushed back another 4 days.

Ha, I'm still waiting on my Kett Pneumatic Shears that I purchased back on Oct 12th when it came up here.

Amazon now says:

The following item will arrive after December 25, 2011.

Good thing I'm in no rush. Kick back and enjoy the ride.

I just got the same message. I placed two separate orders for 1 ea. My first order is shipping soon.

They haven't cancelled my second order yet. I wonder if they're just reducing the qty per order to one or deleting multiple orders?

I'll be happy with just one. (second order was just for extra batteries). I applaud Amazon for honoring the deal.:)

Response I got from Grainger after I queried them about cancelling my order with no notification.

Thank you for contacting Grainger. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. This item is a discontinued item by the vendor. On any item that is labeled discontinued or WSL ( While Supplies Last ), I would recommend calling or toll free number ( 8883618649 ) and we can let you know if any are left. Unfortunately it take about a month for the item to get removed from our web site after it is discontinued.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Thank you,
Luis | Grainger Customer Care
Phone: 888-361-8649 | Email: [email protected]

Does it seem odd to anyone else that a huge company such as Grainger with online sales takes a month to catch up with inventory in stock?

Grainger S-K:

I did notice that both SK ratchets 12D277 and 12D278 showed "in stock" with no label about limited quantity this morning... (both at cheap <$20 prices)

Both say: "In stock - ships today"

(Grainger suggested them to me because I had looked at them previously, so I clicked over)

Got Wiha confirmation today, both diag cutters and the chip driver set plus two free tools (torx 10/15) I also forgot about that caliper...should have got that instead of the extra set of drivers....DOH!

Props to Wiha from me as well. Received my confirmation with everything that I ordered. They combined my two orders to save on shipping and added a free tool. Thanks!!!

Regarding the Wiha digital calipers, keep in mind that this month every monday is Cyber Monday for Wiha-- check the site, maybe they'll have them available again? (I got the dial calipers for $19.99, to *cough* complement my HF ones.)

Tough news on the Bosch deal for those who bought multiples but kudos to Amazon for honoring the deal to the extent they did. The lesson here is, when Stuey says to jump, you jump.

FWIW:

Wiha economy wrenches are made in India. The premium wrenches are made by Heyco in Germany.

I have a pair of Wiha lineman's pliers that are made in SROV (Vietnam). Initially I was appalled and was going to return them. But after closer inspection the fit, finish, and tolerances are excellent. I compared them to Cman and they are much better. Wiha's quality control is spot-on.

I don't have them right in front of me but I know either the smallest flat or phillips doesn't. I was wondering about that too.

I recently bought Joby's new Gorillatorch Blade from Adorama for only $29.50 including free shipping. These are usually sold around the $50 range, up to as high as $60. So, $29.50 is almost 50% off.

Here's some info about the unique flashlight via GJ: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108054

Here's the link to Adorama: Joby Gorillatorch Blade

FWIW, shopping on this site was a breaze. It was the best online shopping transaction I've ever done, period. Whatever purchasing system they use deserves two thumbs up.
