I don't see them on the website anymore.
Ball bearing drawers with a high capacity. Maybe the grip latch?

They are still in the stores.

Bottom of the line is "Quiet Glide" boxes.
Next tier up is "Ball Bearing " boxes.
Next tier up from that is "Ball Bearing with Grip Latch" boxes
Top tier is "Craftsman Professional" line.

I haven't seen the Craftsman Pro boxes in local stores for some time, but the other three box lines are stocked daily in some form at all my regional Sears stores.

Be careful theres also a homeowner set with BB slides that are only rated for 25#s

I thought the only boxes that were the 25lb. rating were the homeowner grey painted boxes with black dwrs with no labeling.

Both ball-bearing and quietglide should be 50 lbs., and the ball bearing with grip-latch units 70lbs., or so says Sears literature.

Hmmm....

There are new chicom craftsman boxes, I don't know if these are being phazed in and the others will dissappear. The craftsman box line line use to be pretty bloated anf has been slowly sliming down. The stores are stocking viper and montezuma boxes now. Griplatch box are still around, but if you want one, I woundn't wait.

Its a clever move by sears and craftsman because now joe homeowner sees ball bearing slides and thinks hes getting a good deal. Really is too bad

I just checked out the sears boxes today while picking up a gift for someone. I was unpleasantly surprised of how cheap in quality the tool boxes and slides were as compared to the HF or MasterForce boxes that I have been looking into recently for my own uprade. The closest in quality to the HF or masterforce was around $1500.00.

the first time I EVER went into a sears store I looked at their boxes and was appalled by the quality. and the prices where high to. I couldn't believe how thin and flimsy they felt. I'm much happier with my 26" husky boxes.

I used to like the Craftsman Professional lineup of boxes about 12 years ago, but they weren't the same prices as the new line of their pro boxes. The new ones are being priced close to the tool truck brands now and are not seen in the stores. I inquired about the new pro boxes and I was informed that there was a wait time for building one as they are now special order only. I almost sold my Snap On KRL box for a Craftsman pro box awhile ago, but instead found a decent deal on Craigslist since I needed more tool storage space.

my family bought me a set of the cheap boxes using that mindset.... holds the tools, kinda, the screwdriver drawer is bent and the pliers drawer sags. the rest are still doing something.

point being, they wont last long; although i appreciate the extra space.

Looks like a 'winning-hand' ya got there.

The Grip Latch usually went on better boxes in their line-up, besides obvious metal gauge differences, when looking at used Craftsman, I always looked for the folded box sides. The flat sides were cheaper-built, and for me, less-desirable. I also noticed the side handles. On the top boxes, black plastic inset side handles, were a give-away of being a cheaper quality; the better ones were die-cast aluminum sent-into a hole punched in the side sheetmetal. Some quality boxes had heavy-duty riveted handles and no punched hole.

My local Lowes was carrying Craftsman and Kobalt side by side for a while. They were the exact same boxes and the same price. Now they just have the Kobalt. I'm not impressed with the quality vs price. Ball bearings are nice, but I'd rather spend the money on heavier guage steel.
