I just picked up a match box over the weekend. I got a pretty good deal on it. One of the drawers feels a little hard to pull out. I wanted to try and clean the tracks. I am new to the world of mechanics and this is my first highend box. I am excited to get it working like new and loading it up. I have never tried taking any box apart or anything so I don't know where to begin. Thanks guys

Not sure if your box has friction sliders but my matco service cart had little black spring clips on the sliders when you pulled the drawer all the way out. I used a 90* hook to get them up and over the stop and my drawers just slid right out.

Post the model number (tag on back) for actual instructions and help.
Matco makes MANY boxes and they use different methods of slide removal.

A common Matco technique is to use small screws to hold the slides in place, both on the drawer and the body.
Contact Matco for replacement slides.
If you need more than one or two, they tend to be hard to deal with.
I've gotten up to 7 sets though, just took months.
The later Matcoglide slides feel much nicer than the older design Accuride.

I recently replaced two slides on my newer 4s. I'll post some pics up after work today to try and walk you through it.

Is it on the MB4725 that you posted last week? Remove the drawer. There is a plastic lever on each. Left side pull up, right side push down then pull out the drawer. the part in the box clips in. Once removed, clean them with simple green 7 use a light oil on them & you'd be good to go.

Say Dave, my MB4725 does not come apart that way.
The newer slides do, but the originals require a Philips screwdriver on both the drawer and to remove the slide.
No flip levers.
The Matcoglide replacements use the flip levers, but not the originals.
That box is about 8 years old, so don't know when they changed over.

ok so i went over there after work and i got one drawer out and i think it is only because the slides on it are messed up. there are 2 black plastic tabs on the sides of the drawer in the rear and they are supposed to hit 2 tabs on the slides that keep the drawer from comming out. well the metal tabs on the slides are bent over. so i dont know if i can straighten them out or is that when you need new slides. the slides seem to be working ok so how do you tell if you need new slides.

Sorry for the late reply, but this is how the slides come out on my box.

The plastic tab on the right gets pushed down

The one on the left gets pushed up
<a href="http://s850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/akombuchamushroomman/?action=view&current=71a74680.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/akombuchamushroomman/71a74680.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a>
While pushing both of those tabs at the same time, you should be able to pull the drawer out of the cabinet.
On the drawer side, this Phillips screw needs to come out, then you can remove the slide from the drawer. There's one Phillips for each slide
<a href="http://s850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/akombuchamushroomman/?action=view&current=a359d9fe.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/ab66/akombuchamushroomman/a359d9fe.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a>
Next, on the inside of the cabinet, work the slide until you find this Phillips screw towards the front and remove it. Again, 1 Phillips per slide.

Finally, take a punch or flat screwdriver and lightly tap to get the bent metal tabs out and remove the slide

They should be covered under Matco's warranty. If you have a distributor then just ask him about it. If not just call up Matco and I bet they send you new slides at no cost.

There is a matco dealer in my town I will get I touch with him. And thank you for the pictures and explaining how to remove the drawers but I guess I have an older model. I think mine was made in 2004. My drawers do not have the tabs. I wish it did because it looks pretty easy

Yup, punch em out. Then replace with self tapping screws, with not too tall heads.
Had to do a few on my first 4725 box. It's original slides were all riveted and screwed in place, without the cool flip levers.
I prefer the flip by a lot.
