It's funny you say that, I bought that set (Kobalt 14-Piece Mini Pliers & Tweezers Set) for my 8 year old nephew for Christmas. Except I just paid $19.99 a couple days ago! I'll see if Lowes will give me the lower price in the store. Hm..actually I would just rather have another set, one for myself, like buy one get one free!

Most stores will honor price drops within 30 days. If they won't, and there are more on the shelf for the lower price, just return the one you bought and turn around and buy 2 more.

The review on lowes is bad, what's your experience?
Only 2 reviews are posted. One is excellant the other comes from a older woman that claims they are horrible without any details. That is not a good indication of the quality. I would say for $10 they are a great value.

I'm sure the quality may be lacking for precision work, but 14 for $10 is hard to pass up. I might get a set to pick a few out of and gift the rest to a buddy.

FYI - I wasn't bashing their quality at all. I already have a nice pliers set and I really am putting together a toolbox for my son. I can't see spending the $$$ on snap-on or CM Pro for him. Not yet anyway...

Got my Wiha hex key set today. UPS gave it to the Post Office to deliver who then left the box outside my door in the rain :(. Was overpacked with foam peanuts which was ok I guess.

Now I know why everybody is saying wow about these things. Very Nice! I'm Impressed.

Same here, I think I'll just give those orange handles to my dad and grab a set of the Kobalt. Actually, I almost bought this set two days ago along with the Kobalt plastic toolbox for $30 as part of Lowes' holiday promo.

I brought a set home and looked them over. The quality is definitely lacking. The edges look as if they were hand ground and very uneven.

The promo toolboxes are JUNK.

If you want something that size go structural foam - Stanley/Bostich make a nice one.

I bought the craftsman nextec 12v right angle impact with free drill the other day. Last night i decided to buy the regular 1/4" impact without battery, was $59.** with 15% off $46.** with in store pickup. Well i picked it up today, no problems there, but decided to run around the other side of the store to check out the multi tool....glad i did. Noticed the exact same 1/4 impact was $34.99 in store, wtf?? Did get back the difference and got the multi tool also.

Here is a pic of the long needle nose pliers to show you the quality of the Kobalt 14 piece pliers set. These are brand new straight from the package.

I had a bunch of small stuff ready to buy from Cripe, maybe $75 worth, but I couldn't quite get past the shipping estimate of $36 for that. I wasn't sure if maybe the actual shipping would be less than that estimate.

As you I was a bit skeptical when I bought a ton of stuff from them off ebay. 2 10" circular blades, the dewalt 11pc 3/8" 6pt deepwell impact sockets, 5 of those craftsman pouches (made in USA and very nice @ $3 each) some large gearwrench imapacts, GW external torx set, the small CM battery tester and a bunch of other stuff. The initial shipping was calculated @ over $36, but was rebilled for $12 and change.

Likewise when their ecom site was lacking a couple sunday's ago and couldn't calculate shipping when I got the KD 6pc oil plug set made by GW for $20 shipping turned out to only be $3.95. ALl came UPS and and was well packed, the ebay box must have weighed 25lbs or more.

Looks like a nice machine but I have to say my $20 Harbor Freight one works really well. I am not a huge fan of HF stuff but the $20 multi-tool they sell is really an amazing value. I have used it 20-30 times already and really like it. I would love to have this or the Fein if I used it daily but for lite use the HF is a winner.

Steve

+100 I got both the cordless and corded when they were $19.99 and was stunned that they worked as well as they do. No way will I spend over $50 on another now no matter what name is on it. Of the few really great values at HF this is definately one of them.

But you know, it's strange, I wasn't that impressed with the cutters. The package they came in said Made In Germany but nothing on the unit itself. Plus, they...well, they weren't loose but opened and closed a little too freely for my taste. The chrome on the inside was satin and not polished (and reddish in color in parts).

They're not bad certainly, and I'm glad they cut well for you, but I think the $12 price is a fair one for them.

Yup... Right on target with this review. They are not bad... BUT.... mine are what i'd call loose. I have some Wiha swiss made pliers, and these are not the same. The best cutters I own are Bahco's. They are much better even if they haven't been put under the buffing wheel like these SROV Wiha's.

Went to Sears today.

Found most of the Gearwrench stuff about half off. Ratcheting screwdriver set, pass-thru socket sets, std, flex heads, reversibles, stubbies and x-beams were all on sale. I walked out with nothing....couldn't decide!!

I can't say anything as the quality of these yet, but based on Wiha's website, those cutters should should be made in Germany. They changed the part number for the Monday sale, but based on the photo and retail price, they're listed elsewhere on the site as the Pro series which is "Guaranteed Professional Quality Made In Germany".

Stanley 16' Tape Measure (FatMax/BladeArmor)

$4.98 until 12/31/2011 at Lowes. $17.90 on Amazon right now.

I do not believe it comes with the knife as pictured... but it may as there's another identical tape measure without the knife pictured?

I picked up a few of these today and it does indeed come with the knife and blades. This is a smoking deal for a USA made tape measure such as the Fat Max. I love these things and can never have enough tape measure laying around, plus these are great gifts! Get em while you can, there are only 15 per store around here...

Sweet... thanks for the heads up. Just checked and saw they were about $8 cheaper than when I bought them! Got a nice price match. :)

Also cripes on eBay has cheap T-handle and stubby sets. They also have extra long-handle drivers for like $4 or something.

I have 3 packages and none look like that. The serrations on the blades are nice and they're very well formed. If there's a functional issue (it appears cosmetic?) I'd take them back as I think the other sets will be better.

I just got back from getting 2. You're right, the tape is made in USA and it does come with the knife. The knife is made in Thailand or something, though it looks better than the tape measure... I bet it will love you long time despite the COO.

I ordered online, when I got to the store I returned the multi-fit wrenches. Not the same quality as the other Kobalt wrenches IMHO... seemed the crappy ChiCom oiled-so-they-don't-rust with a very poor finish. All the wrenches looked like that.

I did pick up some of the cross-beam wrenches. The previous poster was right, there are other sets for $60 (8-piece set plus some other toys?) and a $80 set that ratcheted. They are new made-in-Taiwan and not the old stock. I'm pretty sure they've been out for a while, I always pass by that wrench section as they're never on sale and they seem very high priced.

I've had one of the 16' Fat Max tape measures for a couple years now and it's held up good. I don't use it everyday, but it's built quite a few things with me, so I give it a thumbs up!

I just picked this up. It is a fatmax and includes the utility knife. Great deal on this.

If they are made in Germany, they sure don't say it anywhere on the tool.... Also look at the photo. It's a different tool..

Was at Sears and picked one up, $2.00 cheaper if you order online though.

Looks like a very well made ratcheting screwdriver.

I ordered online, as I don't like to go through the store, it's kinda depressing there...

Trying to decide on a new tool box with the current deals that are out there. Any one know of a better deal than the 56" tool box from Menards for 529 or the harbor freight for 350? I am afraid that the 41" from harbor freight isn't quite big enough and would probably buy two, however the 56" will probably be about right with a little room for expansion. Any thoughts or suggestions?
