Sorry, no pics had to hurry to finish because other things were waiting in line for my attention.

I bought 2 stainless steel work bench surfaces on 12/13. One 6 foot X 2 foot and an 8 foot X 2 foot. Part numbers 00914962000 and 00914966000.

Saved a lot off list price. $196.30 saved on a $290.79 final bill with free to store shipping, not bad. Arrived today at the local Sears Store on the exact day promised, Packaging was good to very good with Styrofoam blocks, cardboard and a heavy plastic coating.

Each top was quite heavy with the base of a really dense board, I think it's the MDF material? Not real familiar with it but was stiff, strong and heavy.

The top was covered on 5 sides with fully welded seams that were ground smooth. Nice workmanship.

Overall I was reasonably impressed especially for the price. I didn't get a thickness since the metal was pretty intimate with the base. I did have to file the front edge at the bottom since there was a burr left from shearing.

I was at Sears today picking up my $57 polished professional combo wrench set ordered on line and I saw the SS top you you are talking about. It lists for 299 (the 8' one) and looked pretty good. I was wondering what it would cost a shop to fabricate one then buy a sheet of 1 1/2' MDF. How did you get it discounted? Was it on sale?

Good luck with it - they look sweet.

It was an internet price, not sure if it was a short sale or what... I looked online and got another $10 off with a coupon.

I just ordered one myself. When I looked at in the store, it looked pretty well made although I'm sure it's light gauge SS. Nevertheless, I wanted a top 8' X 2' which is the exact size of this top. The in store price is 299, the online price is 249 and after coupon and discounts it was 147.00 - good price for an 8' SS workbench top. I don't think I could get one fabricated for that price and buy the MDF. Thanks for posting it. Its going on top of 2 HF 13 draw cabinets. Should work out nice.

I fabricated my own metal workbench top by taking a roll of aluminum roof flashing. It came in 3-foot widthes. Cut it to length and width, leaving 3/4 inch overlap on each side. Laid the metal on the bench top and bent the sides down over the edges (I'd cut the corners to allow for a smooth bend). Then used small sheet-metal screws to secure the metal to the edges of the bench top. It's lasted 10 years now. Cost me less than $10.

Picked up the top. Pretty impressive for the price and very heavy.
