Harbor freight emailed some coupons out. Saw a coupon for the 1/2" composite ratchet for $8.99. You can use the 20% on something else useful. I'll post them up as soon as I get home.
Do you happen to know what HF mailer this was in? I have a couple of HF mailers here and don't see the coupon for the ratchet. Thanks

I was just at the store and couldn't find it in my email. Used te 20% coupon and it brought it from $10 something to 8.39. I'm happy. Now I just need the 1/4.

I was at my local HF today (NE Ohio) and they had the 3/4 drive for $9.99 if I recall, blue tagged as "as advertised" but someone posted in the HF thread to watch out for the "as advertised" labels because it might be reg price. They have a goofy sale going on this weekend, 10% off friday, 20% off sat, 30% off sunday on yellow tagged items - except I didnt see any yellow tags in the store not that I was in there very long but I imagine the lines will be long on sunday lol.

If you are talking about the 1/2 composite drive the normal price is $10.99 but there is a coupon for $8.99 via email.

Just to make things a bit crazier on the JC Whitney deal.

I got a cancellation for the Duracell inverters. The air pressure regulators I saw disappeared from the order within an hour of placing it, so I knew I wasn't getting those.

I just received an email with tracking number, saying the 6 stainless steel locking hitch pins are shipped. At one cent a piece. Via FedEx.

Continued update>>>

Good news... the locking pins arrived.

Bad news... they are the 1/2" diameter variety therefore about useless.

I didn't read that, my fault. Most locking receivers I've seen are 1/2", but they come with a sleeve you can put over to get 5/8". Oh well.

I was actually looking for another set of ratcheting wrenches and a set of 1/2" deep sockets. I guess I'll take 3 screwdrivers, too. While looking up the government surplus number I stumbled upon a video of the sets. http://bcove.me/ftzjilzv

FWIW:

I was at my local Home Depot picking up some more filters for my Ridgid wet/dry vac and stopped by to look over their Channellock selection.

I picked up the Channellock 437 7" cutting pliers for 10.00 plus tax and the Channellock 85 fence tool for 13.00 plus tax. They also had their 9" ironworkers pliers for 13.00. Might want to keep watch on the Channellock inventory to see if they start clearing out some of the stock.

YMMV.

Check Walmart too, and check your toolbox dimensions.

Walmart has 18" x 6ft stuff for cheaper than $4.99/roll.

I had to line a bunch of 16" x 31" drawers, and the Walmart stuff worked out quite well - lots of other places had 12" or 14" stuff.

Dollar Tree has it as well. Not sure on the width though.

Stopped at Lowe's today and spotted a deal on

Stanley Nestable & Stackable Large Storage Bin #4

http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=ZAG+ORGANIZERS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=056400L

Was $5.98, clearance $0.65/ea.

I'd watch Lowes for clearanced Stanley products. I just got 30 packages of Stanley FatMAX utility knife blades for a dollar each! 100 blades per package. I went to there to get some of the Wiss shears, and stumbled across the sale table as the guys were putting out the products. I put all the blades in a bucket, and went and paid. The guy at the counter says "deal of the century you got here..." :bounce:

I may have missed the discussion on these Irwin bits. Are these decent? HD has them for $9.99.

*shrug* not bad, but nothing super special either.

I much prefer the self-feeding bits like the Bosch DareDevils. I use the stubbies with the Irwin extension included in the set you pasted - the Irwin Extension seems really nice and well-made. I do a lot of stud drilling for electrical, so its nice to have the stubby and then stick an extension on when needed.

Depending on what your definition of decent is. For the price, they're not bad. I bought a few of them a couple days ago to drill some holes in 2x4s. After a day of use, two bits are broken (one at the shank and one of the tip). The others that i are so dull now that I just threw them away.

So, if you've got a project and need them for a few uses, they're great. If you're looking for a nice set, save your $10.
