Looks like you need a live in garage maintence man to keep the place clean, organize space, and repair any lights, plumbing, and HVAC issues. Let me know and I'll give my company 2 weeks notice, move down (I always wanted to live in Texas) and get to work!
If your getting ready to roadtrip, your gonna need someone there to watch the place while your gone...and my Mustang and Ranger would feel right at home in one of the empty spaces!!!!

Sorry Richard Pryor already did that in Superman X.
Other than concrete and the actual building, my buddy and I have done all of the interior over the last 3 years. We are finally getting a chance to have get togethers with 20 to 30 other racers. All we really needed was A/C, bathroom and floor space to get people to drive out to the ranch for some fun, everything else is a bonus.
I started out autocrossing, then we started seriously modifying the cars, and now it seems all we do is add on and build at the ranch. I need to get back in the racing game and stop the insanity.
I will try to post some activity pics later (probably in another more appropriate thread).

Nice, I'd have that filled full of project vehicles in a week.
I wouldn't build a shop unless it was 100x100. My buddy built a metal/concrete floor/insulated walls in that size for $50k in 2001. Still hasn't used the brand new lift in it because the shop is packed full of junk and overflow from his parts business.

There's something to be said for this approach. It's how my much more humble shop got started. I don't even pretend to be on the same playing field, but it sounds like you have much more balanced plan than most. I mean if this is your retirement complex/RV home-base, people forget that it's a LOT cheaper to do this kind of space than the average McMansion.
If it makes you feel any better, I got into building Jeeps before I built my place, and I keep telling people I want to get back to a place where I can work IN my garage instead of working ON my garage. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet.

Home made with explosion proof fan. Mostly a place to do fiberglass layup and rattle can type painting to keep overspray off everything else.

While it's amazingly huge and there's a couple OK toys there, I'm pretty sure it's not everone's cup of tea - and I'd bet your wife would say there's NO WAY she'd want you to aspire to living in a hangar with stark rooms and narry a tree in site!

I agree. Everyone's taste and needs are different. My favorite shops are the small working shops like Kiwi Kev's and Ztfab's. I appreciate everyone sharing their pictures though. Its a fun way to kill time. Beats watching tv

I think its great, I like the approach to it all and am with the idea that its more useful, cost effective than the typical mansion approach. Its a lot of walking, the segway things could be cool. The finish as you go approach is good, did the same thing myself, saved a bundle and its tailored as needed. I have half my buildings done, 2 more to go. One more storage and another living one.

As for the stark rooms, we have no plans today to move before retirement. Our primary residence about 3 miles south has about 75 large trees on 3 acres and I welcome the break in yard work.
The Ranch is for parties and fun when we have 20 to 30 people over.
I do like the possibility of reducing our electric bill in the summer from 700/mon to 175/mon due to the big thermal break, lack of windows, and average 14" insulation if we decide to sell out and live at the Ranch.
I also love the small shops, especially the well thought out layouts and efficient use of space.
As for the wife, she seems to stick with in spite of my lack of trees and furnature.
I don't have near enough tools to have a set nearby in each of the rooms so I spent a lot of time briskly walking to get and put away this and that...believe me I need the exercise and down time that comes with the space.
Tastes vary and we do like spending time at both places.

It really is more cluttered that the picssmoke it look. i moved stuff around to give it a organized cleaned up look.
The 80x40 'final' addition is almost complete so I can move in the machining tools, 5th wheel toy hauler, boat and 68 Camaro from my hanger up the road and get it sold to pay for that Haas cnc mill.

No money tree....non-degreed software/controls guy that started out at $8/hr in 1989 at EMD as shop help....self made....and 1 of 3 owners.
