Thanks for the headsup on the thin profile ratchets. Glad I got in on it this time.
Sale Price was 49.**
Minus 10% for ordering online
Minus $5 (added some sandpaper and used Sears2012 discount code)

Ended up about $40. Great deal.

On the Craftsman ratchets, did you get free shipping? I can't get Sears2012 to give me $5 off even after adding sandpaper to my cart. SHIPLOVE doesn't work for free shipping either. Thanks!

The sears site does that to me also. It will apply a discount and then raise the cost of something else. I've seen it raise shipping, the item in my cart, or reduce another discount already applied (like 10% online orders).

Is that craftsman thin profile ratchet set really a good deal? it is about $50+ after shipping.
I checked ebay and found the ratchets are sold separately and the price are just slightly higher than current Sears deal.

don't recall how much these went for on BF, but they are 49.88 at HD for 16 gal RIDGID shop vac with the 5 HP motor.

http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hard...splay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051

They've been doing that RIGID shop vac for $50 for about 3 months or more now. Apparently it's a slow moving item, very slow. I saw it at the store and it didn't exactly feel like a high quality item. The filter that comes with it is their lowest end filter and the better filters are like $30. I was a bit tempted, but then decided that part of the $50 is better spent on new filter/bag on my old Shop-Vac.

i don't know which ebay deals you're looking at, but when i did a similar search, i found that all 3 ratchets would total about $80-$90 depending on who was offering free shipping. So, compared to that, the $56 I paid ($7 S&H + sales tax + filler item) seemed like a good deal.

Good deal for some great ratchets. Probably the best Craftsman has to offer currently. I got a 1/4 a few years ago and loved it. really tempted to get the set, but damn if I don't have a ton of ratchets already. In all of my tool boxes.

Thanks... enroll in an auto class at a community college, get an email account from the college and apply for the tep at matco... if they see an email from the college, they pretty much approve you.

They also have their line of premium ratchets which are about as thin and better at 84teeth.

I got my thin profile ratchets this week from the first sale- Taiwan. I guess it is whatever the local distribution center has in stock. But Taiwan is better than China, and the ratchets seem to be OK (I already have two sets of USA made ones) at this price point. The GearWrench ratchets I have from Taiwan are some of the best ones I own, time will tell how good these new Taiwan Craftsman ratchets are.

I just got mine too, and they were shipped from UT and are NOT made in USA. Where was yours shipped from? In fact, there's no COO markings at all... just "L-AA". Not sure what that means... was your made in Taiwan actually marked "Taiwan" or something similar?

Mine shipped from GA and are just like yours. No COO stamped on the wrenches but is on the retail packages in stores (don't remember if the generic box mine came packaged in had it or not)

ok thanks for that.

i'm not all about "made in USA" is the only way, but i was a bit disappointed. debating if I should return these and just put that money towards their premium set.

Mine just arrived from Utah. They're all stamped USA. It sounds like inventory is mixed but I haven't heard on any from China yet.

well, it looks like the non-USA ones don't really have a COO marking, so who knows where they are from?

You have to be a student or instructor to get it for that price. Great discounts on all Matco products. Unless your signed in you will not see the discounted prices.

Gearwrench makes a 2' long locking flex head 1/2" ratchet with 88 teeth?

Or any ratchet with 88 teeth?

no, i think gearwrenches are 72 teeth at most. but the difference between 72 vs 88 is about 0.91 degrees (4.09 vs 5) so it's really irrelevant. the strength of those teeth and paw design is what matters, but I don't know any comparisons.
