I am thinking of doing this to make it easier to get to some of my tools. My tool box is so overcrowded I thought I may do this with the most commonly used ones such as wrenches. What do you guys and girls think?

I have some there. I have these organizers....2 are for wrenches, screwdrivers and a drill/accessories. Thay're pretty cheap on here...

I like pegboard for anything that hangs easy, it is about he cheapest form of storage.

I use it for wrenches, screwdrivers, nut drivers, power tools, rulers, levels, hammers, and clamps. I'm generally happy with it. I have every craftsman RP wrench, 10 or so cordless tools, roughly 10 screwdrivers, 12 nut drivers, about 10 clamps, about 10 hammers, a hacksaw, grease gun bench brush and a few other odds and ends on a 4by8 piece of pegboard.
Im thinking about trying to integrate a way to hang all my sockets (roughly 400) but am not sold on how to do it yet along with ratchets and extensions.
I have two full stacks of craftsman 26" wide boxes side by side that are both full, and I don't want to spend big money on more professional boxes, so hanging is a way of optimizing space.

Hack saw, levels, wood working type stuff mostly. Plus odds & ends I may need right away.

i have a few things hanging from a pegboard above the workbench in my reloading room.
saws, hammers, prybars, ect that get used in the house.
i hate pegboard
only reason i use it because it was there when i bought the house.

I hate pegboard. Wall hanging doesn't bother me for things like saws, screwdrivers, files, chisels, adjustable wrenches, and hammers, but everything else has a place in my tool boxes. It takes a lot more work for tools to walk off when they reside in a lockable tool box that is locked nightly.

got pegboard over my lathe, mill and bandsaw/grinder areas.
Just those tools I need there all the time.
workbench: no. all my tools there are in a toolcart. they're dustfree and securely stored.

No space heh? Here's the solution to that problem. I made it with a welder, a metal brake for the top shelf and quality casters.

I never much cared for pegboard until recently. All I ever saw in shops and other people's garages were broken, dirty wrecks that only had rusted pipe wrenches and saws hanging from them.
I've always kept my tools in a drawer, so when I needed anything I would just grab it. When it came time for clean up, I didn't just want to throw the tools back in the drawers, so everything usually ended up on top of the workbench until I had time to reorganize the drawers.
Now if I need a screwdriver or wrench, I grab and go. When I return them, it makes it so much easier and neater to put them away right then and there.

There's no universal answer. If you roll a cart or your whole box to the job, then having stuff over on the wall might not be helpful.
For me, in a smaller space, it makes things a lot quicker to have some of my commonly-used tools up where I can easily grab them. Opening a drawer every time I need a screwdriver would get old.

Small section of pegboard near the door with a set of less expensive wrenches and screwdrivers, an old hammer and some pliers, tire gauge, air chuck, etc .
Keeps the kids, kid's friends, etc out of my tool box when they are working on something

I like pegboard, but i think that you need too be that person who puts back every tool after you using it and keep the board in good order.

I'm quite the fan of pegboard although I use a combination of pegboard, tool chests and a couple of cabinets and shelving units. Mostly the pegboard is for hand tools that I use often, the tool chests are for sockets and specialty tools and the shelving unit and cabinets are for power tools.
I only have pics of the pegboard and tool boxes.
I really need to get a nice set of screwdrivers. I have remnants of several sets, all made in USA, but very untidy looking. As soon as I finish putting in nice interior walls for my shop I'll be doing something nice and neat with the pegboard section, although I'm thinking of putting a small 8x12 addition on my shop just for a tool room and ditching the storage taking up wall and floor space.

Nice, decaf! That is one of the neatest and best organized pegboard facilities I've ever seen! I like the dark blue color.

Wow, some of those pictures look like a tool museum rather than a work shop. I despise pegboard for tools - I have a small 4' square piece above my bench at home for misc stuff and it's insta clutter. Give me a decent 26" stack and I'll take that wall space for shelves, or a window, or a white board.... space is priceless in a shop be it floor space, bence space, or wall space.
That said, we have company tools on a pegboard over the main bench at work - wrenches, sockets on rails (minus the ones the others are too lazy to put back on rails and just drop in a bin on the bench - which by now means 90% in the bin and empty rails), 2 soldering irons, 2 hack saws, and some commonly used supplies like tape (paper and electrical), zip tie packs, pipe tape, space hack blades, roll of abrasive paper.
Peg is great for hanging things you need to hang - we have one section with blades (tile saw in multiple sizes, abrasive saw, brush trimmer, etc), one with misc common consumable parts for our equipment, and one I have some hose/wire/extension cords on that we use alot.

Well, of all I saw posted on this thread, mine was the most cluttered so I went ahead and started the new version. Old board and new board pics:
Only one hammer hung on the new version...more to come.
Just for now, I have four screws holding the board at each corner. To fir it out I used 1x3's all around the perimeter...would've preferred 1x2's but I had plenty of the former and didn't want to wake the house up ripping it down with the table saw. Should I also provide any support in the middle? Or around the perimeter is enough?

I've got just my woodworking stuff and yard tools on pegboard. Everything else is in roll cabs.
I need to get a pic of my dad's workshop the next time I visit. He's that guy who hangs everything on pegboard and draws an outline of every single piece with a sharpie.
