Hey guys, if you missed the old clearance ramps, the new model 11909 is on sale and the A123 code works for them as well.

With discount they come out to $32.66

I saw a few pair of those in the store, I did not have a lot of time to look at them, but they are most definitely a different design than the older ones, lots of weird castings in the ramps themselves….fwiw

And they are like $68 at amazon too.

Man that price just don't seem right.....so I ordered 2, LOL.

Got them in today (super fast...to Stl anyway). What a deal, thanks for the tip. Was expecting the non ratcheting (mistake) as they would be closer to that price. Great deal.

Found this on DealNews:

BigSkyTool offers the factory-refurbished Hitachi 5/8" Hammer Drill, model no. FDV16VB2, for $55.90. Coupon code "BST992" cuts it to $36.34. With free shipping.
Cheap insurance not to use my DeWalt 18v and bigger chuck was a deal sealer for me.

Good info, was getting hard to find Griots stuff now I might be able to use some of those wicked AA coupons on some stuff

In for two, good find.

Got mine today, nice mat, but they ship it rolled up, so now it curls up on the ends, I guess if I hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes it may start laying flat.

I too looked at the new Rhinos while I was a the store. Based on the new design, I can only assume they're like that for better wet traction and water control. It never occurred to me that that could be an issue, but I suppose it just might be (especially here in Florida). And to be honest, if I'd known the new ones were on sale for $33 (using the discount code), I think I wouldn't have hassled so much over the price difference compared to the old ones they're clearancing.

The other thing that is a game changer for the new ramps is that they stack in eachother. The older design has ribs all the way through so they have to be kept seperate. I'm pretty sure I am going to sell my older design to buy another set of the newer ones. Store 2 sets like one set of the older design.

Anyone know if the $24.95 Rhino ramps at advance are low rider friendly? I have a lowered 94 corvette with a long *** nose. It won't drive up on normal metal ramps. The picture of the rhino ramps look like they are longer and lower then most other ramps?

I think the answer is yes and no. I can't use any ramps with the lowered M3. There is a guy on here with a lowered Mustang that said he was OK. I think they are angled at 17 degrees, get down under your car and do the math...

My guess would be that it wont work. They have a longer incline than metal ramps I have used but it seemed like it was still close when doing my girlfriend's Saturn using those ramps. It still might be worth it if you have uses for it with other cars...

Thanks for that. I dunno though, I just drive it up on 2x4s and then jack from the center?

I would build me a set of ramps out of wood before I paid for race ramps. They are nice, but damn they are proud of them.

My car is not as low, as it is long. I have the Northern tool/costco XL35 jack which is a very low, long jack and it fits under the car fine, but it's not long enough to reach the cross member.

Ive got a pair of normal ramps for all other cars, but my vette is pain the *** to work on with one floor jack. You got to raise one side, place the wheel on 4x4's, jack other side and place one jack stand, go back the first side and fit the jack stand. All of that just to change the oil. :willy_nil

I have a lowered WRX with an additional lip on the front bumper that they go on fine. No issues with my GTI on them either.

I bought my first set of Rhino Ramps about 15 years ago and found that they worked well for most but not all of my cars due to height. My solution was to cut a 2x4 with angle cuts on both ends to use as helper ramps, once the car is on the helper ramp it pushes the ramp stopper down as well:

I tend to do something similar as what was posted above. Use these ramps with a 2x6x18" in front to get the lowered car up onto them. seems to work well.

Found this on a car forum, 12klb RHINO ramps $24.95 @ Advance Auto Parts per set useing this coupon, looks like their blowing these out for a newer version. Just picked up two sets coupon works too.

I once had a guy come into work (Pep Boys) and return a set of those 12,000lb Rhino Ramps because they crushed in and almost killed him while he was under his Trailblazer (WELL under 12,000lb)

I would never use those.

I'd be willing to bet you he tried using them on a hill. If you look at the mold pattern they're a series of triangles, its got terrible side load resistance and hence only meant to be used on a flat piece of ground.

Possibly, but I still won't take that chance though. Good deal though, I think ours sold for ~$35-45 a pair.

Can these be used on a smooth garage floor or will they kick out? Might be good enough for the riding mower though.
It's been years since I've used mine but I seem to recall they had a rubber strip on one end to help prevent sliding. That wore off mine in pretty short order though.

The trick is to have some momentum when you hit the ramp as this tends to pin the ramp down with some weight. If you roll up to the ramp with the front tires and then try to slowly climb the ramp they do tend to skate out on a smooth concrete floor. I've also heard of people putting a rubber floor-mat under the ramp to prevent sliding.

I have never had an issue with my 15 yo ramps, but I use them as they were intended- on flat space, usually in my garage. Even on the slick garage floors, I have never had an issue with them slipping. They have a rubber pad on the entry side that bites and prevents them from slipping.........WAY better than the old metal ramps I remember. YMMV

I've had issues with these things sliding on me and in one instance a FWD car grabbed one of the ramps and shot it back to the rear wheel as I was trying to drive up the ramp. This is on a bare concrete floor. I no longer drive up on these. Now I use them to drop the tires on after I've lifted the car with a pair of jacks. I might be willing to pay someone to take these out of my garage! (ok, maybe not)

The link above works for me, but it's been changed to a different price of $35. they're the newer version that's on sale now.

I wouldn't use them like someone said and hit them with speed. There are a few pics of people doing that who then overshot the ramp and their car landed on the ramp. What I do is just go very slowly. I've thought about adding a flat piece of plywood to the front so that the car drives up on the wood that's permanently attached, which gives no chance of the ramp slipping, but I haven't had an issue yet so I'll wait on that idea.

BIG1540 brings them back down to $29.99. I have a set of the 8000lb ones and I have never had any problems with them sliding or crushing, well I guess if it was the latter I probalby wouldn't be typing this now would I?

Thanks. For those who missed out on the clearance 1200 GVW, you can get the new one at 1600 GVW for 39.99 store pickup. Applied BIG1540 and A123 and get $20 total off. It worked for me 10 minutes ago and you might be able to stack another promotion code if available.

I've been tracking this too and my wallet is thinning as a result. I think the reason is that Amazon sets their prices to just undercut private sellers. In this case, micro-tools has dropped the prices on a bunch of items (Wera mostly, some Wiha too) and trigger Amazon's price adjustment. If you are in the market, I'd jump now since Amazon's prices will reset once micro-tools' stock runs out.

Amazon has select Wera sets whose prices have been dropping steadily over the last several days.
