mrshaun, have any sense if Snap-On will reintroduce these in a dual 80 configuration? I picked up a used 3/8" version of this ratchet for $40 at a pawn shop and find it to be a useful and enjoyable ratchet to use! :)

I just converted my older locking handle ratchet that had the lock near the handle not the head, by swapping it with a dual 80 head. Now that is my favorite goto ratchet, and I was thinking of the doing the same thing with my fslf936, but a dual 80 head on it from a flex head dual 80.

Sounds like a good idea; I hadn't thought about that... seems the designs of the pin/bolt are the same afaik...

yeah that would be the easiest way to get that ratchet again. sorry no plans at the moment. sales were not good enough to keep it alive. everyone always said I will never need a ratchet like that. Now guys are looking for any help they can get with the tighter spots.

Do them make a flex head dual 80 version(tlf72)? I haven't seen one and that would be needed to do the TSLF936... Maybe I will convert over my FSLF936 if I could get another Flf80 or Fbf80 for a decent price.

If I bought the two dual 80's from you and swapped the heads from my speeder ratchets, what kind of trade in would you give me for the dual 80 handles with the non-dual 80 heads?

well the older 936 3/8 ratchets flf936/flf80 now usually sell used for 50-60 bucks. so that would be about your trade in. guys have had better luck selling the ratchet on ebay, for some reason people pay a lot higher prices there than they do off of the truck for used tools

If you were close to me I would go for that deal... I would hate to have to buy new ratchets to take the heads off and not get much for them once I swap the heads and if i didn't have over 125 ratchets now I would keep them, but I don't have the need for them.

I don't as I am not a mechanic, I just want to have a lot of options in case I do need to do something where I can use that. Also where I am living now, I don't have my air compressor, but I do use electric tools. I think I would use that now and then, but just haven't had the time or a big project yet.

I must have one of these! I'm curious about the handle part that spins. Does it have a lot of play?

Anybody know the P/N for the compact 3/8 kit? I have an extra 1/4 drive speeder I'd like to convert.

If you want to convert the Snap On 36 tooth 900 series (936) 1/4" drive pear head ratchets to 3/8" drive you will need the rebuild kit for the FC936 or FCF936 , part # RKRFC936 .(see link below)

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/parts/pro_det.asp?Item_id=640848&group_id=681622

*** NOTE *** This kit will also fit all the current Williams 36 tooth 1/4" drive 900 series based pear head ratchets. (all of these ratchets part # 's end in A, the previous 800 series based ratchets part #'s are the same except for the A)

Hey guys, what does the term speeder ratchet mean??? Is that the offical name given to this tool?? Thanks

Speeder means the handle (or some portion of it) floats free from the articulated wrench itself allowing you to hold the end of the handle with one hand firmly (and turn quickly while being stationary in one hand) and the articulated part of the wrench/driver (and thus socket or bit attacted to it) to be held and guided with your other hand and held loosely thus allowing you to run up or remove loosened fasteners very quickly and accurately by hand once broken free.

Used for decades in auto shops and on race teams before the proliferation of battery and air impact tools to speed the task.

Good part about speeders is that overtorqing or damaging a fastener is seldom and issue once it is loose or run up.

The Snap-On 9/32 drive speeder "t" wrenches from the turn of the century up to the 60's used a free flaoating knurled collar on the drive shaft and the "t' handle was fixed , which reversed the position, but with teh same results.

Where the Op speeder ratchet shines is that you have both in one. YOu can break a fastener free, than remove fastener quickly with the same ratchet.

Same with installation.

Used to use a company provided one quite almost daily while in light mfg.

Do they sell this anymore? I do not see it in the catalog. Maybe I'm blind.

They stopped making these; you can find these in the used market place, you can find them on ebay but they tend to bring over $100. I found one used at a pawn shop for $40; they are semi rare but keep your eyes open, you might get lucky! :)

Mind elaborating what on? I've never fe
lt like I needed it for powerstrokes, but that may be because I don't have one to use.

It would be good investment to have it for valve covers, injectors, and etc but most main reason is for a 6.4 powerstroke to get exhaust pipes behind of turbo as the pipes do intend to wear and leak diesel exhaust out that is cause diesel exhaust smell in cab.

I think I paid about 25 for this ratchet, then put a dual 80 head on it. I don't remember what I paid for the head, because there was trade cash and tools involved with my snap-on guy, for the head.

The dual 80 head bolts right on.
