Vintage tool box find x4. Help ID

Went to a swap meet in DFW with my eyes peeled for some old boxes.
Guy said "The one on the left is $40, one on the right is $60 because it has some tools". I contained my excitement, and started looking. Made an offer of $80 for both, and he jumped on it.

I know the one on the bottom right is Snap On, and it was made in '62 from the stamping on the back. I initially thought maybe they were all snap on because they had Snap On stickers on the front, but I figure thats just a dealer since it has contact information.
I don't have a clue what the other three are. At first I thought the one on the bottom left was a Kennedy because of the color, but I found this picture (Link) which just about assures me its a Craftsman. They're identical down the stamped "X" in the floor of the bottom compartment.

Now, that leads me to the believe the the one of the top right (the one on top of the SO box) is its mate, or at least another craftsman because the handles are identical, both stamped, and the both have two raised ridges in the handles. The cover is down in the pics so you cannot see them.
What's weird is the round area for a logo. I don't recall seeing a round craftmans logo. Also, where any old craftmans red? Any idea on the top left one? Maybe Mac?

The tools in the box. There is a Snap-On alternator tester that I didnt even see until I got home. I have no idea how to use it, but I can't wait to learn. Snap On There is a Dwell/tach, a MAC diode tester, and a couple Snap On impact universals, a cornwell, and one no named.
Going off the script on these impacts, and idea on the age?

There are a handful of more sockets, studpuller, and a few wrenches, but these are the nice sockets

Update.
Maybe the round logo box is a Cornwell?
I found the following picture in the vintage toolbox thread and the box is not mine. Drawer layout is the same, carry handles are the same. Different drawer handles and different logo

Mine (its sitting on a different box than in the pictures above. I swapped em around)

WOW, what a great find, and a "you ****".

The box in the left pic looks like it has the same handles on my Cornwell box.

A "you ****" is well deserved on that one, and I wish you luck in the clean up process.

HA!
It IS a cornwell box. I looked at half the posts in the vintage thread and came up with these

Cornwell 1
showpost.php

Then why does it have the exact same handles the box that I'm convinced is a craftsman?

that dark colored bottom matches this exactly yet as the same handles as the cornwell?

Lots of these old boxes were made by one or two manufacturers to a seller's specs.

Shouldn't be much of a surprise that many of them look similar.

Edited to add:
I'm super jealous of the Snap On bottom and the possibly Cornwell top... would make a SWEET pair, and by the looks of it would clean up pretty nice without repainting.

the only worth anything are the swivel sockets, the boxes itself are trash. that one with a lid. they was many that build the same with different names. so a trash name is the same as a snap on decal box. I wouldnt pay 20 dollars for all four

LOL he sounds a bit ignorant. I cleaned up and sold a 3 drawer top box for $246 a month ago. Well worth the $60 I put into it. Brownbagg is putting tool back into the tool forums.

Is that box with the "New Jersey" sticker a Hout?

The other top box looks like a Waterloo.

right hand top box shares a lot of similarities to my Lumidor including top and handles although I have drawers. Kennedy is somewhat similar

Would the box on the top right, first pic, be a Mac? That design looks familiar, but I can't find a photo anywhere, and I'll be damned if I can remember.

Great finds, BTW!

I would guess the snap on tools by the logo to be from 1969 or later. The tool boxes are a nice score for the price but the universals are worth more than what you paid for everything. To the guy that said everything is trash please give me your old tool boxes before you throw them out. You might want to join a Harbor Fright message board while you are at it.

You ****!

From the first pic, I'm certain the one on the upper left was produced by Waterloo, though it could be badged as one of many other companies. The Cornwell may have been produced by Remline. Its side handles match some Remline-produced boxes I have and the drawer handles are similar. My "Powr Kraft" Remline has different drawer handles from my "Remline" Remline, so they could have been unique to the customer, and certainly changed over time, too. I have a similar Craftsman bottom box from the same era that differs in many details. It wouldn't surprise me if they used several suppliers over the years.

Nice boxes for a great price!

The one on the top left is a Waterloo. They made boxes for Proto and others. I'd guess that one is from the '70s.

THIS...

I have a Remline (who did actually make boxes) with the same drawer pulls, and Craftsmen (Who only contracted for boxes AFAIK) with similar drawer pulls. I don't believe Cornwall ever actualy made boxes themselves, but the Key ID point for that bos is the unique circle adn line embelm on the cover.

Another possible maker is Huot, as they made boxes with the front cover attached to the top like that.

Great score despite some negative comments. While the paint needs to be re-shot, as long as the structure is sound, and the slides are decent (clean and grease them before deciding...), those restored will be far better than much of what is being produced today, and give better service...

I have a waterloo upper box from about the same time period. There are some similarities but also some differences. The drawer layout and handles are similar. The top middle drawer is also much wider then the top middle drawer on my Waterloo box. The differences is that the side handles are different and the top cover has the two articulating hinges that are not present on mine. (I guess they probably aren't hinges but props to hold the lid up)

Thanks for the knowledge guys. I was mainly curious about the box with the round logo, which from what I've seen, I'm positive its a cornwell. Now to track down that name plate.

I will clean these up, and straighten out the few dings and probably leave them as is.
I have a couple late 50's snap ons that are about to get my full attention the I haven't even posted yet :)

The top right is definitely Huot. Very nice find.

Quite an assortment of manufacturers, but all decent quality. Go with the patina. Pressure-wash, remove the decals with heat and Lift-Off, scrub with steel wool, spray with WD-40 and put them to work.

Nice set of boxes. Pretty sure you are correct regards the one with the round logo. I couldnt see the pic you noted but my Cornwell has the same handles ( not seen in my pic) and the round logo. It's the one on the left.

Brian L.

P.S. Too funny, I post here and then saw the PM. Will post a pic of the logo, mine had newspaper scrap from mid 50's.

Here is the logo.
