why oh why did i have to go back to sears today

first off i started at the parts store and saw a couple of items

I got a USA made socket set 3/8 drive (7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1") Reg price $24.99 on sale for $12.47

then picked up another set 3/8 drive (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) Reg price $16.99 on sale for $8.47

Then into the sears store and the 3 piece prybar set was calling my name... so got it for $19.99 (Reg 39.99)

since I was on a roll... I went back to the 97cent socket sale and picked up one each of the sae flex sockets that were there...figured what the hell ... got the following:

1/4 flex
3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 (reg price on those were 7.49 ea)

3/8 Flex
3/8, 5/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 11/16, 3/4

the good news for me (i guess) there were no flare wrenches to be found

I am hitting up the local Sears first thing in the morning. I had to watch my daughter all day today (wife was working) and the power went out as well (huge wind storm knocked a tree on the power line just down from in front of my house) so I forgot all about it today, but meant to go. I hope they have the flare wrenches as I need some, what are the most common sizes to pick up? When I see sets of them I see some are 3 pieces some are 4 or 5 piece sets.

Also, just curious, those of you picking up odd ball socket sizes on clearance, are you planning on flipping them or just adding them to your collections? I am OCD and it would bother me only having a few sizes for a particular set, but thats just me.

Or better yet are any NOT on clearance? Should have gone today, didn't know the flex sockets were that cheap, need a full set.

To all of you with the successful sears deals:

Which sockets are exactly on clearance? Are they marked as clearance?

Mine were in the clearance section but not marked. The wrenches were not in the clearance section, not marked and rang up 1.97. YMMV

I will be going back tomorrow looking for swivel sockets in the regular section and seeing how they ring up.

GOT to hit this up tomorrow! I can't get to the Mall Sears 'till the evening, but might be able to get to the local one in the morning.

Found this on the C-Man website, don't know if it'll be these prices in the store.

Wood Boring Bits:

9/16 0.97
7/16 0.97
13/16 1.97
3/8 3.97

Something just don't want me to have this deal! I went yesterday and they where all marked full price. At the time, I did not think to check the price.

So tonight after reading this thread I decided to go back and give it another shot. 10 mins from sears I stop to get gas. While pumping, I notice my car moving.... Walk to the other side and sure enough Ive got a huge hole in my right front tire! I must to have ran over something pulling into the gas station, because my tire was completely out of air before the pump could reach $40. By the time I got the damn tire changed it was only 10mins til sears closed!

Guess I will try again tomorrow.....

I've hit 2 Sears stores recently and didn't notice either having sockets on clearance. I could sure use some cheap backups though. I did manage to pickup the 3 piece set of thin profile ratchets at the $50 CC club pricing. Old stock USA made too .

I hope you get some, but most of them were gone when I got to the store on Saturday.

As far as I could tell, only some of the deep sockets (3/8 drive) were marked down....a couple of metrics and 11/16 and 13/16. I figured just the seldom sold sizes. Someone else posted that the rest may go to clearance soon.

Good luck!

I went to Sears today, and all of the 3/8" drive swivel sockets were NOT on clearance, including some people had luck with here. I checked them with a price checker. I picked up a couple loose 1/4" swivels for .97. They had some random, 8-pt sockets, and a bunch of 1/4" & 1/2" 12-pt sockets. They had one 6-pt 1/2" drive socket that I grabbed as mine are all 12-pt.

As I was getting ready to check out, I noticed the full sets of 1/4" drive swivel sockets were on clearance for half off--so I got the last of one metric set and one SAE. I'm not sure I'm going to keep them though as I'm not sure I have a use for them--if they were 3/8" drive I would definitely keep them.

They also had several box sets of 3/4" drive sockets for about $50 off, had maybe 4-5 boxes of various sizes.

My local Sears also has one of those IR right-angle impact guns in the clearance aisle for about $100 off.

Are these RP flare wrenches or full polished flare wrenches?

I just went to Sears and they had a ton of .97 cent stuff left. I got one of every flex socket they had for .97 cent's as well as four 3/4" drive sockets for .97 cents each as well including one large 2 5/8" socket. The regional manager was there and said sometime next week they are going to be blowing out allot of tools for .97 and 1.97 each.

Could let us know the other 3/4 sizes you got. My store didn't have most of this stuff marked.

Milwaukee M12 XC Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Battery $39.99

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZM6R12

A good deal that will actually ship (coming from Amazon directly). Thank you very much B225. I have been waiting to try/compare one of these in the grease gun and multi-tool which go through the standard batteries pretty quick.
A quick question for the Sears hawks: In this thread one person reports getting the professional series line wrenches on clearance for $1.90ish a piece, have others gotten the professional series for this price or mostly raised panel?
Before refreshing this thread I take into consideration past results of smiling much more often than I treat bite marks on my rear. It involves math and stuff, just saying :dunno:.

Thank you and this thread *****,

sweet is this the complete list or are there others possibly?

As far as I can tell, it is complete for the 3/4" drive stuff. I had the guy check everything between 7/8" and 2-3/8". Since the tool section is always DEAD there, he had the time... ;)

The ones I bought were Pros BUT I think only the smaller ones (and maybe one other) rang up that way. At least one larger metric didn't register at all but the clerk gave it to me for $1.97 since the others were that. Today I checked the biggest SAE size pro at a different store and it came up $19.99, so I don't know what was up with that. I think what I'm trying to say is YMMV.

I have an extra 16x18 pro flare if someone wants it. I have no idea why I bought it - I must've forgot to put it away after checking...

Perfect thanks for taking the time to post those. Now hopefully sears isn't sold out.

Tried checking my local Sears, but all the wrenches, sockets, etc are behind security tags so I couldnt just check them myself.

Didnt feel like finding a tool drone to scan every little thing I might want so I walked away with my tail between my legs.

Hoping the not-as-local Sears Hardware doesnt have it all locked down so I can check it out. Would be nice to have correct size flare wrenches for brakes and stuff.

The 3/8" and 1/4" Craftsman sets are on sale again for $9.99. Who knows if they are the USA or China versions.

I picked up a set today, mine were USA as well. Figured they make good spares in case I ever break my other Craftsman USA stuff. Good enough for a weekend warrior.

Hit up my local Sears this morning about 10:30. They still had a few line wrenches, I picked up 3 metric and 3 SAE, but I don't have the sizes in front of me. All rang up for $1.97. I also picked up 5 SAE 3/8 drive flex sockets, but am pissed because they were out of 5/16 and 7/16 (if I remember correctly) otherwise I would have the complete set, so if anyone has some extras please let me know. I also picked up a complete set of metric except for 17mm which they were out of, however at checkout only the 11mm and 16mm were $0.97, the rest rang up at $8.** regular price and the clerk said they could not adjust the prices. Also the 3/4 line wrench rang up at $9.97, not discounted and they wouldn't adjust the price either so I skipped on that one. I may take the two metrics back, as what am I going to do with those two oddball sizes. I also picked up the $19.99 3-piece pry bar set, but I am on the fence. Will post pics in the new tool arrival section later.
