Tool boxes, scan tools, welders, compressors, are all high dollar stuff. If it is a name brand that can only be bought off a truck, it is something anyone should think about.
My opinion is that snapon credit does not do enough to try to collect on past due accounts. They pretty much leave it up to dealers to collect in good standing or repo in bad.
I have bought several boxes at auction, pawn shops, etc. The one thing I do is get a receipt, photocopy it, and leave a copy in the box. I would not buy one from just any joe blo off the street.
I may not be able to keep the box, but I would have a paper trail to show where I got it from. Law enforcement would be involved before the dealer would be allowed to take it.
Anybody that has ever been on a tool truck has seen stuff that has been repoed for sale. You buy an impact for $600, and make six payments, they repo what you owe. If the impact is not worth what is owed, they just keep taking untill they get the owed amount. Same as a car or house.
Not to long ago my tool trucks had me start signing the bottom of any invoice that I bought something. I am sure it has something to do with collections if it were to come to that.
