I'm tempted to buy that set as well just to have almost every socket possible. I just don't like rusty sockets =/. It appears that some people are seeing them rust from sitting there.

I would bet money that wal-marts socks were produced more cheaply under a contract just for them. There are a lot of wal-mart only products that differ in quality from other stores... caveat emptor.

Looks like Sears changed the free shipping to $99 today. I guess I will need to add some more stuff to get free shipping with my pass-through kit. Also I got my Gearwrench stuff I ordered yesterday shipped. :rocker:

Man, this place is going to bankrupt me. I do not need those 299 sockets but this would allow me to fill some hansen trays and save my others for random backups.

All 60 tooth will, but not the36 tooth models. I have a 60 tooth flex stubby, but to be honest I have not seen a reason to go 88, especially with a short stubby.

Get them! I got mine during xmas

and paid $300 + tax. Was well worth it. For $50 less it is an absolute steal.

Wow that $249 socket set is a hell of a deal, but how many of those sockets will most of us ever use? (Yes, I am trying to talk myself out of this.) I have pretty complete collections of sockets already, and really don't think I need both 12 pt and 6 pt in nearly every socket.

I just bought the 1/4 and 3/8 mechanics sets on Sunday for 50% off and thought I got a great deal. I did use a sears store credit I had, so the sets actually cost me $0 out of pocket. It had the thin profile ratchets and a few extensions included. No I am wondering if I should have bought this set, although it would cost me another $100 out of pocket, I would have every socket imaginable.

It wont fill out the 1/4" hansons.
no 5/8 in either deep or shallow and no 15mm in deep or shallow.
Not to mention there are no 4.5 or 5.5 deeps, but there is a 5.5 shallow. :rocker:

Havn't checked the rest of the sizes out. :bounce:

This thread has caused me to spend entirely too much on Craftsman stuff lately

I had already told myself to start looking for a deal on that 299pc set. I have my original single marked Craftsman set from 20+ years ago but it lacked deep 1/2" sockets, no 6pt 1/2", etc. This set I think would yield a lot of duplicates for me but would fill in a lot too.

Are these double marked? Is the quality still good? My 20+ y/o ones are fine but I haven't tried any of the double-marked ones.

Geez my wife's gonna kick me out.

You may want to double check that. I believe only the picture is wrong in the listing. If you google the gearwrench part number in the listing you come up with the unit below. Part number is clearly on this one item. I think you just bought one universal joint....

Tyler Tool has the Bosch PS20 12v pocket driver for $80 and you get a free 12v reciprocating saw. The pocket driver comes with 12v charger and two 12v batteries. This is a driver and not an impact despite the lack of a chuck, FYI

I got 4 ratchets. The bent handle flex head, the stubby flex head, a 1/4" soft grip and a 1/4" full polish. total was $53.

I'm a little concerned tho. It still shows up as "processing". Sears has been known to **** people out of deals in the past because they either sold too many or said the price is wrong. I hope I get them.
