Well Ive been lookin for a 70-73 mach 1 for the last couple of months well saturday I went to look at one I found on Ebay that was supposidly in good shape, 12 hours of driving and it was a pile of Sh!t. So Iwas pretty bummed out. So I got on CL and someone had just posted a 73 mach 1 for $6800. so I emailed him, he called me back, I asked if I could come look at it in the morning. he said it was at his buddys shop and it wouldnt be open til monday morning so I told him I'd be there when he opened and I told him if it was as he described I'd buy it.. Well I got there monday morning and found the guy who was going to show me the car. I introduced myself and he asked me if I got the Vmail from the owner this moring. I said No why? he said the owner already sold it to a guy in Georgia for 7200. So I called the owner up to find out what was going on. Left him a Vmail and the guy said he doesnt answer his phone but should call back shortly. In the mean time we went out and looked at it. It was EXACTLY what I was lookin for and more. So he finally called back. And he apologized but said the car was sold and the guy was going to drive up from Ga, to pick it up. Before he could say anything else I said I'll give you $8000 for it, the phone went silent for about 10 second and he said let me call you right back. He called back about 5 minutes later and said its yours! I picked it up yesterday!

Its a 1973 Mach 1 with Ford Racing Crate motor that was disassembled and it was balanced and blued and a roller cam kit was installed. He couldnt find the paperwork on it to let me know what was in it or the hp/tq of it. It has a C6 with a reverse manual valve body, and 3500 stall and also was new and built for street/strip. It has a 9" rear with a 3.90 posi in it and has been upgraded with wilwood disc brakes. Dont know if its a clutched unit or a locker yet. As fas as the interior the seats have been recovered the capet is new and the headliner is new. Other that that it just needs a little TLC. The body is all original sheet metal it has 2 dents in it one on the right rear fender and 1 right behind the drivers side rear window it also has a few small patches of rust but nothing that will involve major repairs. My 1st priority is to get the body fixed up and get her painted. I have ordered my NPD catalog but if anyone know of other places to get mustang parts please let me know.

I have taken it for a few short rides and it is a Frickin Beast!!! Im figuring between 500-600 hp

Here's some pic's:

That is a bad *** car! I like everything about it, even the aftermarket wheels look great on it. Are you going to keep it the same color? I think it looks great in that color myself. It looks fast just sitting there. Very nice and congratulations. Better add it to your sig!

Going to keep the Blue but see if I can get someone to hand do the stripes and stuff in black. The wheels will be polished and reused. My son said I should get new wheels but I told them they were popular when I was young! I had one of these when I was 25 in red but sold it for a down payment on out 1st house. So Finally I get another one!! Adding it to my Avatar good idea!

Good looking car and looks pretty darn solid for an East Coaster.

My brother had one years ago and that thing was a beast. It was squirrely as h3ll in the corners but like an arrow on straights. I've never been a huge Ford guy but c'mon, everyone loves a Mustang...lol...Especially models you don't see a lot of.

Hope to see some updates as you get there.

You ****! Sounds like a great buy.
I have been looking for a toy (muscle car) for a while now & anything worthwhile around here is 20 grand or more. I guess I should try & look a lot further south than where I am.

I was the same way! I thought they were FUGLY when they came out in 71, My 1st Mach 1 was a 1970 and I loved that body style. I bought a 73 when I was 25 got a really good deal on it and fell in love with it. So when I started I was lookin 70-73!

I would hate to be the guy in Georgia that thought he had it for $7200. I guess the first with cash gets it.

One of my buddies in HS had one (don't know what year) but boy did we drink some beer and chase some girls in it.

Keep us posted on your project.

Nice pick.....
That's the last of the full-sized Mustangs until 1979.

Those wheels though, don't do it for me.
These were optional, and look quite nice - Magnum 500's....

Yep in 74 they came out with that gorgeous Mustang II! My mom had one what a TURD! And it was brown!

I like the mag 500's but the ones on there look pretty gpood to me! And if I get it done and dont like the look I'll get something else!

Congratulations……………..nice car. I had a ’71 Mach 1 in high school and college; mine was the same color blue with the argent stripes and hood. How do you like that view out the back window? :lol_hitti

Very nice! If I ever get my garage finished, I'll start bringing my '72 coupe back to life. Here's what it looked like 15 years ago...
