This set is worth it.

I picked this up last time it was up for $250 and even at almost $300 it is still an awesome deal.

Just do yourself a favor and pick up a bunch of harbor freight socket trays and rails as the Hansen ones don't work to well especially on 1/4 stuff.

Was yours dual marked? I've read that these are actually dual marked as the regular laser etched are no longer made.

I almost bought this last time, and am very tempted again. I have 95% of these sockets already, just not dual marked/laser etched.

Mine are dual marked. They don't have the best of quality control on them, but I do not mind as I am not a polisher. I keep my stuff pretty well organized so I know which size and drive is where and all that. I'll snap some pics, you really don't realize just how many sockets this is until you rack them up.

I put most of the 12 point SAE and less commonly used in an older Kennedy chest that's more of a backup set. It's excess storage lol.

Do you mean dual marked as in stamped and laser etched with size?

Is this set made in the USA?

Would it be wise to wait to see if it will go lower? I seems that it has in the past.

you'll hate me even more.... sometimes its useful to have multiples of the same sizes like when you need to hold the head of a bolt and unfasten a nut on the other side. or when your doing a job that has different needs of the same sizes you can have one setup with a stubby ratchet and the other with a long flex handle and not have to share the same socket on both ratchets.

From my understanding, the $237 price was the lowest its ever gone. I had never seen it that low nor had anyone on slickdeals. The previous lowest was $249 which i guess is every once in a while...So you could wait and see if it goes lower.

Right now, they are still made in USA. Thats something to consider. If you wait theres a chance they could go to china. I dont think its a very good chance, but thats just my opinion. Craftsman seems to be moving a ton of stuff to asia.

The $237 was actually when it went to $249, and someone posted a referral link that added a AAA discount that got it to $237. So, so long as the AAA discount is still in effect, the next time it goes $249, you should be able to get it to $237 again.

I haven't see any non-USA craftsman sockets just yet... but yeah, just about everything else is going overseas. Stuff coming from Taiwan I don't usually have a problem with. But who knows, maybe with the overseas production, the chrome plating may become higher quality.

Just looking at that eye candy gives me wood. I might not be able to wait. Can you post a link to those harbor freight trays. Your setup looks awesome.

I just bought the Sam's Club's six drawer cabinet, workbench, rolling drawer workbench and cabinet for under $1000 and have had a ball organizing my buckets of tools. Don't want to spend $ on Snap-on box as I am an amateur.

Well I bit the bullet. I'm gonna be torked if they are $50 cheaper next month. I went by HF and looked at those tray organizers, but didn't pick them up as I was still undecided. Looks as though I will be going to HF tomorrow.

This site is gonna break me :).

Been kicking myself ever since I talked myself out of picking this set up when it was 250$. With the 35 off 300 visa promo for sears I got these for 265 this time. Still good price.

Grab some of the plastic rails while you are there. you will need them for double squares and some misc. stuff.

I put the 12 points on the trays which filled them up pretty good and the 6 points on rails (I think I had to get 18 rails or so) so I don't have to deal with the gaps in the trays.

don't worry, they come around a few times a year... and some times there are better coupon codes to make this an even better deal.

On the webpage there is an option to follow the price and receive emails if it drops below a specified amount. I'm not sure how well it works but it might be worth a shot.

Anyone confirm that these are dual-marked or are they easy read (laser etched, no stamping)?

So how many spots are actually missing from the HF trays? I would only put the 6pts on the trays. Just wondering which spots are missing.
From what i can see, the pics above don't show many at all, maybe like 5 or 6.

Do these sets include some sockets not available in store?

There is quite a few missing believe it or not and you will have quite a few that dont have spots. I filled in some of the missing spots with other sizes to save space. Theres quite a few missing metric 6pt sockets. So i filled in that area with 12pts that go larger then the tray holds (quite a few).

Yes, they do. Infact I was missing one size, and had 2 sockets that the laser etching wasnt on properly, it was covering the stamped area. The local store could only swap me one of the sockets. THe missing one and the other bad laser etched one i got from calling the 800 num on the parts list. They sent them right out and in about a week i had them.

I would HIGHLY recommend you account for each socket. Like i said i was missing one, and the laser etching on 2 was screwed up. DO NOT waste your time calling sears customer service...They are a bunch of turds. Just call the 800 number on the parts list.

that feature works... but usually about 2 days too late. better off setting up deal alerts on slickdeals.

Can anyone who has bought these recently confirm that they have "made in USA" stamped on them. Most of my info has said these are all now made in Asia.

I'd argue against that and have in the past. I purchased this for home use and its way overkill. My primary gripe is the finish is trash and most are spot rusting so in retrospect I wish I just bought a couple SK super sets or Proto/Williams. I'd of gotten less product, but just what I really needed, and the quality would of been higher.

That said the Chinese sockets may be fine/superior to the cheap US stuff, and yes they were cheap. On sale I paid $1 a socket AND they shipped free + Sears made a profit.
