Sure you can. Just make sure you don't have a ton of other stuff on the circuit and that it's not over loaded. Also use the same size wire from the outlet to the fan that the circuit uses.

Just a FYI. Conduit has a fill rate, make sure you haven't crammed too many wires through it. Too many wires in conduit can cause over heating.

12ga for a ceiling fan?

How do you plan to controll it? Did you buy a fan with a remote or something or are you just planning to use pull chain switches or something?

Mounting for a ceiling fan is very important. Make sure you use a box designed for fans and secure it well.

The conduit is 1/2, there was 3 12 guage wires in it originally, I put 3 more in it, is this too much?? The original 3 wires power a 3 bulb T-8 flooresent light

I just went with the guage wire that was installed in my bldg

The fan has a 4 speed remote

this is being mounted in a steel bldg, bolted metal box to angle iron

Ooops... that was a FYI not FTI, hit the wrong key. Anyway you're good on the fill. 1/2 conduit has a fill of 9 #12 THHN/THWN wires for EMT and 8 #12 THHN/THWN wires for Sch.40 PVC.
