I recently posted this but relized I was in the wrong forum topic. So im re posting in the "tool forum"

Hello I just bought a Snap on 1750 at a garage sale.It is from 1989 It is in great shape and has brand new jaws. I stripped all the old paint off of it till it was bare, then used 600 grit sandpaper and wet sanded it till it was clean. After drying it for a entire day I put on 2 coats of industrial grey primer, then 2 coats of high grade spray Automotive paint (snap on red) Im thinking about selling it and had a figure in my head, but wanted some advice from you guys.

1) the paint doesnt seem to be that durable and most likley flake off. could I get more money for it if I stripped it down again and had it powdercoated?

2) I could then put brand new snap on tool box plastic emblems on it

3)How much do you think its worth now, and how much if its powdercoated with the new emblems?
Any and all advice will be apreciated thanks in advance!!

Here is a video of the vise

1755 new can be had for about $450. Nobody will pay you that kind of money. So assuming your vise is about 55#, max anyone on this site would likly pay would be about $100 if they needed one. Post it on CL for what you would be happy with and see if it moves.

Everybody know those are rebadge wiltons. 1750 are pretty common and other then being a good USA vise, there are more desireable vises out there. How wide are the jaws? A big 8" could be worth up to $200 simple due to it's size. Otherwise a 5" or 6", I agree, $100.

The jaws are 5", but I dont think its a wilton. The newer snap on vises part numbers start with WV (wilton vise) I thought the older ones were made by snap on. But I could be wrong:)

Just how many hours do you have in it and how much per hour do you value your labor?

You'll need to sell it on Ebay. There are plenty of fools who won't know it's Wilton and will pay top dollar just for the SO name.

It should fit in one or two flat rate USPS boxes.

Its made by Wilton no doubt. Some 1750 Snapon's say Made in the USA on the left side and some were not and they just put a sticker. Never the less, it looks good in your listing. Myself, for $23.95 I would have put new pipe jaws on it and maybe mention the handle. Let it ride and see what happens. Good luck
