Snap-on truck Arival time

Hi guys..

just wondering what a "Good Time" For the snap-on man to come buy your shop. i mean, My guy comes but he comes to the shop At 5:00 PM or Later.. Pretty much after closing. Then he expects That we give him his "Needed payments" IMO im not going to pay him if he cannot come by at a resonable time.. i understand that they need their money. but come on.. at least come when we are open.. anything like this happening to you guys??

our shop snap on guy *****. comes whenever he wants basically. Doesnt even make it every week and the time varies from 10am to 2 or 3 pm

the snap on guy i deal with is awesome. 11 am every saturday. Never late

Usually after 3PM or so, if he bothers to show up. There are times where I don't see the guy for a month at a time.

Tuesdays at 3 for me, Matco every Thursday at 10, Cornwell on Fridays during lunch. I prefer they show up at lunch time really, saves me the headache of being on the truck when I'm supposed to be on the clock.

my guy comes every monday between 2 and 4. The window doesn't really bother me. He used to come after 4 but I told him I tried to get out by 330 (which almost never happens). He rearranged his route and now comes earlier. It's very rare that he doesn't show up. He's pretty good about saying something the week before.

here they spend most of the morning and afternoon chasing dead beats that don't pay. that's why they get to the responsible shops later

Our snap-on guy shows at 3:30pm every monday, Cornwell tuesdays at 9:30am.
Both are very consistant, they will also let you know if they are not going to be around the next week (vacation, show etc..)

He shows up at about 4:30 about 25% of the time, and everytime he is there, anyone at the shop Pays him. on some rare occasions he shows up at 3:30. (maybe Once every two months..)

I guess I fail to see the issue if you are there at the shop to purchase tools when he comes by but you want him to change his schedule to come by for you to make your payments.

I could understand him being late once in a while, I'm sure it's hard to plan a day with many stops and traffic to deal with. But if your shop is closed and he shows up then he can't expect you to be waiting around for him with a check. Mail him a check next week with a letter stating that you aren't going to be waiting around for him after hours and once your bill is paid off you will find a tool truck that comes on normal business hours.

I am not trying to be a smart ***. The OP was not talking about making purchases, he was talking about making payments. If the OP is there when the dealer comes by, I still fail to see the problem.

I think the OP was bent about having to stay late, after closing, to pay his bill. I know I would be pissed if I had to stay late to pay the bill. I guess that is why I gave my Snap-On and Matco guys had my bank card number, they knew they were allowed to hit it for my payment every week, they would then just leave my receipt if I was in a different shop, they knew they would get paid, and I didn't have to worry about being around to meet them, If I needed something I just left a note on my box. Every Wednesday between 1pm - 3pm. We also have a Snap-on district manager that stops in once or twice a year to make sure scheduling works and the tool purchasing/order process is working well. We are only a small group of 5 in the shop as well.

Very happy with this day and time because my guy gets most of his new shipments monday when he gets home so they are all on the truck for tuesdays.

Ive never financed anything on a Truck, But isnt there some sort of "Automatic payment agreement"? Or for the guys who do use Truck credit, do you have to step on the Truck every week and hand the guy Cash/Credit?

There are easy ways to do business. Send him a payment and quit the worries. He will get the message if no one is there when he comes late. You still need to pay your bill. As a buisness owner I would be pisse if you stoped working to buy tools. That should be done on your own time or break. I can't see owing your soul to a tool truck when used tools are so cheap. Think of all the tools you could have at half price or less.

As a contractor I a hit up for work all the time. I need to let someone work for a cuple of days before I know if they know what they are doing. I don't believe what anyone tells me. The first thing I ask is did you birng your tools with you? 95% of the people say no. I just tell them sorry but I don't have any work at the moment. I then tell them that if they wanted to really work they should have brought thier tools. The ones that do bring thier tools always get a chance. That is a 50-50 toss up at best but it weeds out the ones with lesser experience.

My question is how do you know he comes late if you are not there? Don't answer I know the answer but that is the real question. Just make arangments to pay him that don't require you meeting in person. It is done every day in business. You have his number just leave him a check or mail it to him. Plastic works everytime I try it but I got to pay the bill/ What a fuss over nothing

Did he always come later? If you stayed past 5 to buy the tools you should not have a problem staying past 5 to pay for them. If he changed times since your last purchase i see your complaint. I would politely let him know it bothers you, if he is unwilling to work with you then pay your tab and buy somewhere else.

We are the last stop on Friday afternoon. It *****! He generally comes at about 6pm. We close at 6. Then if anything stupid happens throughout the day, we get screwed... GRR!

I've always found this odd. The SO guy visits my workplace on Friday around 2:30.
I'd say 90% of the workforce there is gone by 11:00 on Fridays.
With hundreds of mechanics, you'd think he would reschedule.

sorry but what im meaning to say is, our shop closes at 5:00, at 4:30 we pull in cars and lock up.. i cant stop Closing up to see the SO guy.. he shows up at 4:30 and later, my dad has told him that his time showing up is not acceptable. but he still shows up late.. I want to pay him off, because he calls and asks for my weekly payments.. and when He doesnt show up or is really late, he expects payments from when he was gone. IMO i wont pay him if he doesnt show..

This all makes Zero sense... (to me), are you saying that your unable to make payments outside of him sitting in your driveway? Is it not possible to call them in?

Its a known fact smaller shops or shops that spend less get less frequent service. like our shop were a fleet and only a couple of us do major line work so we spend less than other accounts she asked and we said sure come by every other week its fine with us. but also if i need somethin now she would figure it out and get it to me. and she knows damb well if she cant make ill call that payment in. you bought the tools pay the bill thats the way it is

I'm not trying to be judgmental, but this is my thinking also. How many people here work through your average banking hours? If you borrow money for you home/car, I expect the OP's argument wouldn't go to far with your local bank.
