Mark, the longer this thread goes on, the more I realize how perfect your screen name is for you. Keep up the good work.

ha ha thanks. It has been a good week as far getting closer on a few projects. I will take some pictures the next few days but I do have a deadline and plan on taking the Willys and the Malibu to a show the weekend of Nov 4 so the race is on.

Today we took delivery of a project we plan on starting in a few weeks. A neighbor has been looking for a muscle car and last week he bought a 73 Dodge Dart *******. It has a six cylinder in it and the interior looks almost like new. It had to have been some old ladies car as it still has the AM radio in it. This car is unmolested. I am not a Mopar guy but I do love the old square body cars and this baby is square. Right now the rough sketch is narrowed rear end, install mini-tubs, install 1970 front end to get rid of the pointed front end of the 73, and dropping in a 440. Bob and the owner are running up to the central part of Florida to pick up a front end, big block cross member, rear end, and possible motor. If anyone has any ideas on this feel free to throw them out.

Sweet. A lot of potential there. My school band teacher had a stock green Dart. His wasn't fancy, but it worked.

Found this one listed a '73, but i don't know the models well enough to know what they did to it.

BTW, what show you aiming for?

Our car is a '73 and has the ugly pointed nose on it:sad: Bob and the owner of the Dart are picking up a front end that looks like the car you have pictured. I am no Mopar expert but we are learning. Any Mopar experts out there may be able to tell us what year the car you have pictured is.

There is a nice show here in Sarasota we go to every year called The Life of Riley. Its a benefit car show for pediatric cancer. It is downtown Sarasota.

Had to settle for a youtube link. click on it if you want to hear the car run. anyone know how to properly upload a video?

www.forabodiesonly.com will point you in the proper direction on any Mopar Abody

Lookup Hemi Denny on there. He builds a really nice bolt in coil over/rack & pinion setup that gets rid of the torsion bars and frees up a ton of space under the hood. Also it keeps the front track similar to the factory width, unlike other custom k frame setups.

Here is a link to his own car...

and a link to my buddy Jim's Demon...

Hello JCQuick

I'm with you on that!! However I did find the following on YouTube of the loud pedal being depressed :willy_nil

Oh yeah........

I took this video with my phone while the Willys was on the dyno. That is a friend of mines son on the throttle. He had a great time that day!

My 71 Dodge Demon had the same front end as this one.

Thanks for the info. I just became a Mopar guy last week so I am still learning:lol:

if you wanted to go a little crazy,........

Thanks for the pictures. As a matter of fact we plan on going a little crazy. We should have a trailer full of parts tomorrow from the Mopar guy so we'll have a start. I like the factory steel wheels painted the body color like the black car.

Great info!! Thanks for getting us some good homework material. The torsion bars were one of the items we did want to address.

do any of you guys know how to embed a you tube video in a post? I know how to copy and past the url but I am curious if we can embed the video. I tried posting the img video link from photobucket but it did not appear to work.

I am very impressed with your garage and projects. This would be my ultimate dream to build a garage similar to yours and just build cars in there for the rest of my life! :)

We all can see you are a very hard worker and a determined individual. Do you have any advice to give to a young, determined 26 year old on how to get to where you are now in life?

Fantastic as usual.

Just an FYI about your non-explosion-proof fan: paint droplets you filter are not that flammable.

What is EXTREMELY flammable is whatever solvents/reducers/hardeners/etc. you have added to the paint. These are not caught by your basic filters you've added. Be careful!

Thank you and I am glad you like it. I must be honest and say I also admire smaller garages because it gets to be alot of work keeping mine organized. Work hard, get a great wife, and wish for good luck. thats how I did it.:)

Thank you! I know i should probably swap the motor out of the fan if we are going to continue this. There are a few guys in town who will rent their paint booth out for a few hundred dollars a day and we could bypass trouble of painting in the garage.

Today was a great day in the garage as we did get the Malibu running:thumbup: It is definitely crunch time and I am being relentless on getting this car ready for the car show Sunday. I have spent the last few days wiring fuel pump, radiator fan, MSD ignition, as well as installing an aux fuse panel for the extra loads. I had the existing radiator modified and as mentioned earlier had to recess it into the core support because of limited space in the engine compartment. Pulleys were installed today, cooling, and power steering hoses, and fluids added. I had the filler neck moved on the radiator and it really limits the amount of coolant I can add so it is a very tedious process adding antifreeze:(

We went through the whole process of installing the motor and running through the punch list of things to do to get the car to start. I must admit this was the first time I installed an MSD ignition and I was probably a little worried if it would actually work. We had fuel pressure after figuring out I wiring the pump backwards and I was pumping air back into the fuel tank:headscrat I turned the key once it sputtered, I turned the key the second time and the engine roared!!! Not bad for an amateur.!!

Here is a you tube video of the car running. Still no brakes because the CPP master cylinder is a pain in the ****!! One way or the other the car will move tomorrow!

check out the video

This is an awesome garage and I live your suburban! Nice build!

thank you very much. we are heading to a car show tomorrow and at 5 this afternoon decided to take the suburban along with the other cars. We put the back seat in tonight, installed door panels, and buttoned up some other things to get it ready. The carburetor was leaking gas so Bob did a quick change with a spare one he had laying around. It is 10:30 pm and Bob just left to go home. We spent all evening on the Burb.

what a great show today in Sarasota. The weather was perfect and so many nice cars. Everything from a model T to hot rods to exotic cars. I saw wingnut65 today and we took a photo together. I got to meet his wife and daughters too. The Suburban pulled the trailer just fine. It was the first time out and that is when you find out what is wrong with something you have built:sad: Its OK because there was nothing major but our work is still not done on the Burb. Worst problem was exhaust gases getting into the cab. Power windows not hooked back up and I about passed out on the way home:lol_hitti seriously but it is not the first time I have killed a few brain cells.

^^ That is the photo I wanted to see, a classic ride, but still a workhorse.

Actually, Mark had three rides at the show, The Malibu, The Suburban and his Vette, down at the end.

It looks like someone is going after the radio in the Burb, but actually the engineer in Mark couldn't let some quiet time pass without trying to connect those power windows. Sounds like you needed them.

And that Malibu is Hot!

And, I did take my whole clan down to the show. Here, the Salt Life Hideout Girls meet the SS Burb!
attachment.php

And, as Mark mentioned Wingnut65 got to meet IGO2XS. There is also Mrs. Wingnut, Bob The (Awesome Car) Builder and his Hula Hoop Champ daughter. Mrs. Bob and son were off to the side.

A fun time was had by all. The weather was beautiful and the cars were amazing. And, Mark's rides were right up at the top. I even bumped into a friend with his just finished Nomad. No VW's, but that is next weekend.

It was great to finally make a personal contact with a GJ friend. I will definitely plan a trip to the Monster Garage for some more quality time and to get my hands dirty

No problem at all. Maybe sometime we can have a Florida GJ member jam and all hook up.;)
We need to do this sometime now that the weather is nice! (And it will give me an excuse to pry this impact driver out of my hand to take a leisurely day for a change :))
