I thought I would make a post about the Homak top and bottom boxes I got at Northern Tool on black Friday.
I was the first one in the parking lot at 5am, then got in line behind about 4 other people. When the doors opened at 6 I went right to the check out, made my purchase and headed home with the new boxes loaded up in the van.
I found out that Northern only keeps the blue boxes in stock, which was fine because that is what I wanted.
The boxes were well packaged with plastic wrap and strong cardboard. They're heavy, but I was able to manhandle them to get them into the shop.
Both boxes came without the side handles attached. The bottom box has one handle which bolts onto either end with some metric grade 8.8 bolts. They run into threadserts. The top box came with two handles which also attached via threadserts, but this time with stainless metric bolts.
The casters were already attached, but I had to swap them from one end to the other to match up with the side handle. They were attached with metric bolts into threaded holes. I put a dab of Loctite on all of the bolts so I wouldn't have to worry about them loosening up later.
Both boxes came with thin foam drawer liners already installed (which is good because I broke the bank on this purchase). They also came with magnetic drawer labels, which I thought was a nice touch.
So far I am extremely happy with my new boxes. The only thing I don't like is that the deep drawers only have one slider on each side. The drawers have provision for a second slider, so I may check that out in the future. The only problem now is figuring out how I want to load them up (and selling the old ones).
