Hi Matthew, I used the IKEA mounting system. I think it really works good. I hang all the cabinets, bolted them all together and after I was happy with the alignment tighted up the mounting nuts to the railing system.

Cheers
Engelbert

Great thanks! Always good to hear real world experience before attempting things myself. All of this garage building stuff is pretty new to me.

Thanks again and great place,
Matthew.

First, I must compliment you on a very nice setup. Second, I curse you for making me want a vintage Porsche! They look amazing!!
Last, kudos for owning German tools... There are a lot of German items that I brought back, but I would have NEVER thought to bring back TOOLS!!!! I'm such a dunce!!!

Love the 944!!
My 11 yr old son is obsessed with them since watching a Wheeler Dealer episode.
I've always liked that hot hatch body style.
Again, great garage et al... you are so well set up!

Absolutely stunning work! That overhead storage and cabinets look great together, I am envisioning the same idea for my garage as well (minus the lift and BA rides of course....) At night, do the lights under the overhead storage kick out enough light to be worth it? The seamless design is A+ but do they have the function to match?

I'm just getting to finish up the stove I will use for powder coating. Took it apart cleaned and painted it, deleted 2 of the surface plates. Still looking for a digital temperature display, I can install.

Will post pictures soon.

Thanks for sharing your excellent work on build of AirBoxer garage!

Post that said nothing sexier than air-cooled flat 6 had it right . . . nothing beats Porsche 911 for pure function and performance!

Don't see any pics of compressor or heating and A/C so curious what keeps everything going and comfortable?

Keep the pics a coming!

The Compressor is under the stairs. For the heating I use my kerosene heater. With the insulatio I have it's not that bad, even in freezing temp's I have 50 Deg F in the garage.

Anyway, here is and update:

My Pizza AKA Powder coating furnace.

I had that stove now sitting for some time. First disassembly and cleaning, prep. for Paint.

oven-001.jpg

It's gonnna be ROT (red) -- Like Rothaus

oven-002.jpg

Door will be silver, or Silber

oven-003.jpg

Some details must be.
oven-004.jpg

Two of the heating plates, will be deleted, too many switches and cables. Let's keep it simple.

oven-005.jpg

Only 2 connectoer left for the plates

oven-006.jpg

Testing all elements which are left, and they all work.

oven-007.jpg

No worries, it's not bend. Just the picture.

oven-008.jpg

What can I do with the holes.

oven-009.jpg

Big holes.

oven-010.jpg

I know, I put a cover on, there you go. The last piece to be finished.

Nice garage!

I work for a big US appliance maker. Just moved out of the cooking division. Did you use engine paint on the stove? The doors can get hotter then you'd expect. If you didn't use engine paint, then you should take care if you run it in self clean.

I was thinking of putting an oven in my to be built garage to bake parts for welding and drying....

I used engine paint, however, since all the surfaces which I painted, should be possible to touch, they should not burn. :rocker:

Thanks for the pics, those LED's definitely look great above the workbench. Nice touches on the oven and fan, now I know of new projects I can do in the garage when the wife thinks she wants the basement painted!

An other not planned project came up, the 944 need a clutch job. Took it apart the weekend before last, ordered the parts and got it back togerther just for Christmas.

Car on the lift

944_clutch001.jpg

Exhaust has to come off.

944_clutch002.jpg

I lowered the transmission on the bridge jack.

944_clutch003.jpg

944_clutch004.jpg

Disconnect the torq tube and moved it back, as far as possible

944_clutch005.jpg

944_clutch006.jpg

Removed the clutch casing and here it is.

944_clutch007.jpg

Looks like the car still had the original clutch with the rubber center.

944_clutch008.jpg

944_clutch009.jpg

The flywheel looks good also. I still had a good clutch disck and pressure plate, I could use.

944_clutch010.jpg

Got new T/O bearing, the Pilot, and 2 small bearing for the fork. The reason I took it apart I some noise comming from the clutch area when the clutch was in. As soon I pushed it just a little the noise was gone.

Cheers

Hi Englebert!
I didnt know you were over here too! Your garage is indeed a very nice place, it was great meeting you. I see you are putting the newfound elbowroom to good use, though the garage has lost a considerable amount of its 'rot' in both senses!

To the forum...I bought the red coupe roller in the background of some of the posts last month and had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with Englebert and his wife. The place is VERY nice the two of them are even nicer.

Thanks so much Englebert, and congratulations on a great, individualized place to spend quality time.

I had a trunk lid from a '68 912 sitting around. It has some pitting on the inside frame, and is not good to use for restoration anymore, so I made some Garage art out of it. Got it mounted today

Engine is also out, a little easier as the 911.

Looks like I'm running out of space. I'm thinking to extend my detached garage.

Here is what it is now

garage_ex01.jpg

This would be with 26ft added, with a 18 x 8 garage door, a door at the right wall and the window I have now in the right wall of the wood work shop, I would move to the right wall.

garage_ex02.jpg

The only issue I have, is that I cannot make it 26 ft deep all the way, since there is a power box behind the future building, and I have to be 10ft away. So a section of the extension will be only 21ft deep.
