Update (this update is more related to the "under the garage space")

Slight hiccup in funding since I decided to spend my "finish the basement" money on a shiny car a couple months ago. We are back on track now..

Here's a pic of the gym yesterday morning, the cabinets are waiting to be installed in Mrs. Utah's command center (scrapbooking, gift wrapping room) and the gym equipment is half put together.

When I got home from work yesterday, this is what it looked like.

Before all the lunkheads start making fun of all the cardio equipment, I still have a squat rack, bench press, leg press and coupl of other pieces of equipment coming. We wanted to get this stuff in first to see how it fit. Still wating for the electritian to come back and put in the ceiling fans, and install the TV on the wall.

For the women. Pics of Mrs Utah's command center

She's got speakers wired in there, tv hook up, wrapping paper rollers, ribbon hangers, all kindsa room for scrapbooking fluff.

Major points for me :D

Oh.. and I can't forget the gratuitus garage pic.

(still not finished with the diamond plating, I have some crown molding I need to put up)

Looks great! Are the walls wallpapered or faux finished? Are there uplights in the coffer around the tops of the walls?

Faux finished. My friend is a fantastic painter and painted the entire project for me.

I loathe wallpaper.

Why is that?:headscrat

No offense, but it appears that you're alot closer to McCain's "middle class" than Obama's. More power to ya though, you've obviously made your way well, something to be proud of these days.

Awesome build, I've enjoyed watching it take shape...........

utah997, you may have already posted about it, but could you elaborate about the "window"? My house has a basement bedroom with no windows. I often wondered about how to pipe some sunlight to it.

Nice space! I'm envious.

Thanks for the update, Utah. Things look like they are coming together nicely. I really enjoy looking at the details, you are obviously a kindred spirit in the detail freak dept., LOL.
That paintwork is really slick, my wife has a plan to try some of that in her sewing room as a project next spring.

technically your basement bedroom is illegal unless you have an exterior door in it...all bedrooms must have an egress window big enough to escape from. Basically its just a deeper window well than you normally put for smaller basement windows

I think your basement window is fine. Here in Utah you do not need an exterior door out of a bedroom. Although it would be wise to put a rebar type ladder on the window well in case of emergency! Your Garage "Bunker" is awesome!

While the bedroom does not have a window, it does have two doors, one that leads into a finished area that has direct access to the outdoors, and another that gives access to an unfinished part of the basement, which also has a different access to the outside. So hopefully, in an emergency, there would be more than one way to escape.

I compliment you on the details you have given during this build.
Very nice.
Please keep up the details and when do you plan on having the shop warming party?

HOLY CARP!!!! & Jumping Jehovah's Witnesses Utah! This thread is the reason why I joined up. This is the best garage I've ever seen! I am in awe. I've sent this to a bunch of car buddies. This is amazing. I just thought I was coming here to check out a couple cool home garages, not an all out man bunker. The 2 car garage I am planning pales in comparison.

This has the best of everything: Huge garage, basement, Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari, Gym, Movie Room, Office, Bathroom, a space for the wife, Tunnels, Secret Bookcases, and a Batman reference. You sir are the MAN! Good luck. We are living vicariously through your garage!
