Im assuming these are older ratchets, and not newer ratchets retrofitted with old handles.

so I have to ask, would you pick an older "technology" ratchet with hard handles, over some snazzy 2008 model?

or just buy everything

I saw those blue handled ones go for almost $300 so I think you'll be outbid

The F80 family is just incredible... That is a hard choice. For sheer memorabilia it would have to be the hard handled ratchets though... These things keep on going up in price...

my SO guy was by today and had the regional guy with him again. got to talking again about hard handles and the reg. guy kept beating around the bush about down the road SO coming out with something...

prolly be the best thing SO has done in some time. I told the guy today i'd order a complete set in black. anything with a black handle. could be a toothbrush for all I care.

I concur.. I like the hard grip ratchets and 1st Gen Soft Grip Screwdrivers.

Snap on toothbrush... That gives me an idea :bounce:

Break.

I think the only thing left to discuss about the Yellow handled set is how much it will sell for..

I am going to go with $285.

One day auction with a fairly low feedback seller might scare a few people off

I saw that too... and hesitated a bit to bid.

Also it was the only item they had listed.

But I have never been burned on a PAYPAL transaction in over 600 transactions, I decided to take a chance.. we'll see... :)

It should EASILY pass that mark. I would love to bid and buy them but I don't have the income that some of you do. Plus, I need to start putting some money back for a friend (awaiting a heart transplant), a bunch of his friends are getting together, and 10 each are pitching in a note a month for his antirejection drugs. (on a rotating basis) I am seriously considering a part time job, just to pitch it (stay in the loop).

My guess is $325ish.

has no one questioned that there is a pretty vague description. no talk of initials or gouges etc.. even the picture is pretty poor.

I saw those when they were first posted. Figure they would go for way more then I could afford. My wife wante me to put a 150 bid on them. I told her it would be a waste of time.

Edit kwhielaw that is what I was implying in post 9. Plus PayPal only. Has several of the fraud indicators.

I don't recall SO ever putting a yellow handle on a ratchet; my guess is those are orange handles made to look yellow by taking a close-up with the flash on.

And I would never bid $200 on something with a poor description and lousy picture.

Dang! I won them!!

I am a bit surprised myself!

I guess I will find out a couple of things.

1) If it was a scam

2) If they did make Yellow Handled Ratchets

Will keep you posted

They are orange, or sun faded!!

Congratulations. Now as to the yellow, if they are yellow, it may not be that they are faded, as I got to wondering how hard it would have been to use replacement screwdriver handles, to get a color not available?

Will be watching and thanks.

Yes, please post picts when you get them. I'm hoping it wasn't a scam and that they are, in fact, yellow. The seller does have low feedback, and I think only 4 were as a seller.

******************* UPDATE *********************

OK,

Now I am getting concerned.

I won this and paid for it on the 3rd of September.

Waited a week, still no ratchets arrived. Then I emailed the seller on the 11th of September and received:

Hi,
Should get very soon,thanks,Carolyn

- carolynkerestes

Now it is Tuesday the 16th and nothing yet. Sent her an email earlier today, no reply....

Grrrrrrrrrrr

She is in Florida and I am in North Carolina.

I am getting a bad feeling about this one...

Funny you should ask.

I am now in the dispute process. She says she sent them on the 10th of September Via UPS. No further tracking information is included. It merely implies that a shipping label was purchased for my City.

September 16: I filed a dispute. Email her twice and she never replies.

September 17: I check EBAY for messages, no response. I check the PAYPAL dispute console. In the dispute console She says that I use a lot of big words and that I can have my money back, but she is canceling the shipment and asks that I never buy from her again (NO PROBLEM).

September 17: PAYPAL Says Refund complete

September 18: No Email/messages from her on my EBAY account. I check dispute panel. I still have no money in my account. I send a message via EBAY that says "Don't worry, I'll never bid on anything you have again"

I leave her negative feedback as both a liar and a scammer.

If it seems to good to be true, IT IS. I should have known better.

Bummer I was hoping my gut instincts were wrong on that auction. It just made me nervous so I never even considered bidding on it.

Now you've done it, now you've gone up and screwed up the poll. LOL

You technically WON, the bid for two hundred, but did you win since it isn't complete?

WHO guessed that one.:bounce:

Got to try to find SOME kind of humor in this.

Sorry to hear about that. Was hoping they would be the real deal.

If your refund message was directly from paypal, I would just give it a little more time.

are you expecting to get shipping back too?

They will? That is good to know. I've been lucky so far never had to deal with a dispute yet.

Did have a empty envelope come in the other day. Contacted the seller and he immediately sent me another set of pry bars.

Just curious, so what happens if you get your money back and the parcel arrives afterward? Can she cancel the shipment if it was in fact already sent?

No she can't, unless she has tracking. If it arrive's it would be up to the buyer to be honest.
