That looks fantastic. Please show how you did all that.
I'll do my best...I finished the final touches tonight just before I posted, but some of the photos of the bench construction were lost forever when my iPhone committed suicide by dunking itself in a 32oz cup of DrPepper.
I started with this -
It was something I threw together last year to use as an assembly bench. The black cabinet on the left is a Husky unit I bought on clearance a couple of years ago. It is now the middle cabinet in the new bench. The cabinet on the right, with all of the stickers, was given away on Craigslist. The small top box sitting on the bench in the above photo was part of a cheap StackOn unit I bought at a garage sale about 5 years ago. The bottom box became a welding cart, seen here -
And the top box, which houses drill and driver bits, punches, and chisels, had the stickers removed and was repainted along with everything else in the bench makeover.
When I bought the clearance Husky boxes last month I knew I was going to use them to redo this bench, but I had no idea I'd eventually decide to repaint them. However, once I tore the old bench down and started planning something more substantial I thought it would be a shame to go through all of that work without painting the index card filing cabinet (now stuffed with hardware) to match the tool cabinets. But I never really liked the gloss black of the tool cabinets, I wanted something more industrial...more vintage looking. So I went with the color above. I know not everyone will like it, but I absolutely love it, it's exactly what I was looking for.
