T5 high output vs. T8 high output

I'm looking to upgrade my T12 fixtures in my garage which has a ceiling height no higher than 10'. Costs aside, would a T5 high output or T8 high output fixture be better? I was gonna go with a T5 high output fixture but I read it might cause bright spots since my celeing isn't high enough. Not sure if that is true or not.

I am not worried about bright spots. I will be installing another one directly over my workbench (about 5' higher than the workbench). I would say that a T5 HOs in my 12' painted white ceilings put out twice as much light as the T8 HO I have in my woodshop 12' with white painted ceilings. If I ever get some extra dough, I will change those out to T5s also.

Money well spent if light is what you crave.
