As far as shop equipment I purchased a Jet 20" drill press about a month ago to replace my smaller Wilton 15" but I haven't had to buy much in the way hand tools over the past several years other than an occassional specialty tool for a specific job that comes into the shop.
My son is gathering quite a tool collection too so I decided to help him out and replace a few of my tools.
For 1/2" chrome extensions I had a few odd sizes of various makes so I gave them to my son and purchased a set of Snap-On extensions the other day to match my 3/8" set that I like so much and have used so much.
I also purchased the new set of Snap-On needle nose pliers that have the Talon point on them and gave my son my old set of MAC needle nose. I also picked up a new pair of high leverage diagonal cutters.
Snap-On had a neat long, thin 1/4" drive flex head ratchet that looks like it will be a big advantage to getting into some tight areas.
Snap-On large prybar.
And last but not least, my 1/2" chrome sockets in both SAE and Metric were a hodge-podge of makes from Craftsman, Matco, Blackhawk and Proto that I had collected/put together over the past 25 or so years. They also only went up to 1" and 22mm so I gave those to my son and purchased a set of Proto sockets that go up to 1-1/2" and metric up to 32mm.
SAE set.
Metric set.
Organized and in their new home getting used to their neighbors.
Pliers and 1/4" ratchet in their new home.
I had to make some modifications to the trays in my side locker to accomodate the new prybar.
That is all for new tool arrivals but while I was in the organizing mood I decided to reorganize my wrench drawer as I was tired of wrenches stacked on top of one another and having to move them to get to some of my smaller ones. I took the larger sizes out of my wrench drawer and relocated them to two other drawers where they are still accessible yet not interfere with the ones that get used the most.
1-1/16" through 1-5/8" plus my large adjustable wrenches in their own drawer.
1-11/16" through 2" have to share a drawer with some body tools. These don't get used that much so not a big deal.
My freshly organized wrench drawer. SAE sizes on the left and Metrics on the right. Much easier to access without having to fight through the larger sizes.
