Worked on the wife's 2001 PT Cruiser ---
-- new front lower control arms
-- new engine torque link
-- new fog lamp bulbs (still don't work - electrical issue)
-- new thermostat and outlet housing

This all follows up work done last weekend where I replaced front struts, rear shocks...

1.5" PVC cut to the length of your zip-ties. The front 2 pieces have a 20 degree cut on them to lean them forward a bit. The bracket is just a 4"x4" piece of scrap metal left over from another project that I painted red and screwed to the leg of my bench. The PVC tubes are glued to the bracket with loctite epoxy. I glued a cap in the ends of each tube and then applied epoxy to the caps and attached them to the bracket. I tried gluing the tubes directly, but there just wanst enough surface area to get a good bond and I didnt want the tubes falling over.

Thank you looks as if I will be giving this a whirl later today.

Moved 1500 sqft of hardwood flooring out of my garage and into my house to acclimate it in preparation for getting it installed. I'll be so glad to have my garage back for cars soon.

I finished framing and screwing plaster board for trunks around the second second story drains, water supply. Screwed plasterboard around all of the garage doors and move everything away from the walls for the plaster guy.
I wish I could think of a creative way to hide the the conduit to the switches and recepticals.

Replaced the rear brake pads on the wife's Passat. Above the garage, I insulated the furnace air return duct.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

front breaks on the winter truck. I was a little pissed thinking I had done them this spring and something else was wrong. However after having to brake out the 3/4' inch monster to take the tires off and then having to beat the tire and rotor off..... I guess its been a while.
Oh and the second run to the parts store to get the right pads. well thats always fun.
Figured I ought to look at the rears just to make sure those are alright. Well..they looked new WTF.. Oh yea... I rebuilt the rear end last spring..
Cleaned up and had some of the boys over and played some music.. now that was fun and the day just got better.

The stand I got with the Miller welder did not have any storage for the cables. So I made one out of some extra 1X2 16 gage tubing from another project and two wheel hubs from harbor Freight.

Tested fit and calibration of my Ammco shoe arching machine. Then arched some brake shoes on different sized test drums.

Jay,
Are you glad you made your rotisserie using bolts and nuts instead of fully welding?

Considers spray insulation? Did ours a few years ago. Cost a few hundred bucks and the rental was free from lowes. Huge difference in our bill.

Reorganized my tool boxes, then began painting the workbench extensions that I built a year ago. Painting the wood framed extensions to match the Craftsman center bench.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Put the wall back together and finished up the electrical. 240v on 8-2 with a 60 amp non-fusible disconnect hanging off a 40 amp double pole breaker. Moved the compressor close to it's new home and connected the whip. It works perfectly! Now I need to get it off the pallet.

Finished the electrical for the 5 new outlets along the same wall. Tested and they all work great.

Also hung and completed the first 8 feet of my soffit shelving. Phase 1 is getting the shelving up and supported. I used (14) 4 1/2" lag bolts to bolt the 2x6 box to the wall and used a 2x2 on the ceiling with (2) 2x4 supports for additional support vertically from the ceiling. I am a bigger guy and I can hang from the shelf without any movement. I think it will hold the small storage stuff I put up there.

Next weekend I plan to add another 3 foot section to take the soffit shelf all the way to the garage door hanger on the left wall.

Still so much to do!

Serviced my welder, eliminated all the birdnesting issues and welded the legs on my welding table.

Cleaned out the toolbox from my truck and discovered the drill I kept back there has either frozen at some point or taken a severe shock and the plastic case was shattered. So I disassembled it and tried to figure out a good use for the perfectly functioning drill mechanism. Any ideas?

Brakes rotors and calliper on the rear, brakes and rotors on the front of the 99 F350. My son in law and I changed the oil in his Silverado and my daughters Saturb Vue. Good day in the shop.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Finally got around to installing my steering support kit from JKS on my 2011 Jeep. I bought the kit back in October but have not had time to install it until this past weekend. The entire upgrade can be seen on my build thread through the link in my signature.:3gears:

I also took the time to install my new Snap-On toolbox in my enclosed trailer and mounted my OTC race jack using a mounting kit from PitPal, which I also have had since last fall.

Overall it was a nice weekend and was able to get caught up on a few things that I have wanted to do for myself rather than busting *** working on vehicles of unappreciative people.

I was also able to finally replace the noisy exhaust fan in our main bathroom and washed/detailed my wife's car, my Jeep and my Duramax. I got them all cleaned up inside, outside and underneathe just in time to drive in all of the **** this morning due to our latest winter storm that hit yesterday.:shocking:

Hung up a 4'x8' sheet of pegboard by myself and organized it. Hung it up in an hour

Boy was it fun driving 7 miles with it tied on my Xterra's roof.

Also pulled out each drawer in my upper portion of tool box and got rid of stuff and wiped it down. Also reorganized it and laid down a anti slip mat in each drawer. Then I played Call of Duty on my PS Vita on my work bench. Great weekend

Not today, on Sunday:
Repaired/spliced all of the tailight wiring under bed that dogs attacked trying to get to the cat in the bed.

I guess in thier frenzi, they were trying to get into the bed from under the truck, tearing out the wiring they thought was in the way. Never saw anything like it.

I'm shooting all of them next time.

Yeah, I would consider boxing in the sides for strength. I think over time your bracket will sag with that little surface area contact. It would look cleaner too. I've always wanted to air bag the front of my factory rear air bagged GMC Envoy. Someday I will own a '67 bagged Impala. :rocker:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Loaded up the engine hoist into the truck to take to work tomorrow. Got to put a 500 pound hard drive degausser unit into a shipping crate. They say use 8 people to lift it off the cart to put into the crate. I think an engine hoist is an easier and safer solution.

Trying to explain to managers what an engine hoist is and that it isn't a huge thing that won't fit inside the building seems to be a lost cause, so I'll just bring it in and do it.

Jay, what is the red bracket on the end? It looks like a gun holder but your gun isn't in it.:headscrat

Edit: a holder for the gun while welding? That's my best guess.
