Thanks anyway. I'll take a print out to the store and see if they will play ball . If not, I'm not at all unhappy with the purchase. I just hate to leave 200 bucks on the table...LOL

You can use print-outs. At my local HF I can just show them the coupon on my phone.

HF honored the price difference with no problem at all. Sweet deal made even better with good customer service. HF really seems to be trying to overcome their past. Excellent buying experience from beginning to end.

Just went to pick up a 56" and the badging has changed.

It is now a silver metal faced sticker that reads "US General Pro".

The 44" bottom box had the same badge as well.

On the positive side - I planned to remove the badges and the new style does not have the pins/holes in the box

On the negative side - I planned to sit a 44" top box on top of the 56" and the inventory of that piece has not cycled through yet. (they would not match)

Only other concern is......did anything else change other than the logo.

The guys at the store didnt know anything about anything.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought this box and just finished loading it in the shop. What an amazing box for $699. :scared: I'll post some pictures when I get it setup.

Can anyone who owns this box give me the width of the actual box not including the handle. I checked my local store and they do not have one instock. I have a very tight spot to fit it into and need an exact dimension.

Thanks
Bob

At first I didn't think I was going to like the locking system but after using it for awhile I really like it. It is frustrating sometimes when you have to go into a drawer several times in a short period of time but I'm used to it now and I'm glad it's there.

I was about to pull the trigger on the 44" and then my pancake compressor that I've been using for 10 years burned up the rod barring tonight. Blew a hole in the housing too. So I just spent $350 on a new bigger compressor. Guess it's just going to stay on my wish list for now.

True.. sorry about that. I wasn't trying to de-rail. I've been wanting the 44" or 56", but just can't make a decision between the two. I have the room, but does the few extra inches warrant the price? And has anyone painted theirs black? I have several stacked boxes, but all of my other stuff is black.

56" Box is on "sale" for $799 20% off code brings it down to $639.
Was not able to enter the code on-line, but when I called in they took it.
Am going to try it in store first before paying almost $100 to ship.
I will post code later this week, or pm me for it.

Sale price is $799 no coupon needed, the $699 is a $100 off coupon, they wouldn't let me apply 2 coupons to one item, so I only used the 20% off.

Might also depend on who you speak to, and might also depend where you get the 20% coupon.

They are not supposed to take the 20% off coupon for Tool Boxes but some stores or employees will do it.

I was also wondering if there is an equivalent to Harbor freight over here. I think in UK they have a kind of discount tools shop.
Here in Belgium we don't have any shops that sell similar cheap but sometimes efficient tools. There are a lot's of home improvement stores, but not a lot that are dedicated to the car hobby.
I found that Matthys in Belgium sell some nice boxes for the enthusiast in mind.

Picked up the box yesterday for $639. Manager said as a one time deal they would take the 20% coupon since they would take it over the phone. (the other manager on duty seemed kind of pissed that she gave me the discount.)
If you don't mind paying shipping you can easily use it over the phone. If you get a hassle just call back later and speak to a different person. Otherwise it seems that it will be hit or miss at the stores whether they will give you the discount.

I don't know. I bought mine last year. It's a great box for the money, but in hindsight I wish I had looked harder for a used Snap-On.

I have the 44" Top and Bottom and love them, but Imm seriously considering getting the 56". The only drawback is the amount of drawers without the ability to expand.

My 44" Top and Bottom are filled, but I think the larger drawers of the 56"would allow me to consolidate a lot of the drawers into each other instead of having "like tools" separated.

Hopefully HF makes sides specifically for this in the near future.

I hung the side cabinets for the 44" on mine.

Any word on the 20% off? I didn't know they would take the coupon.. If you read the fine print, it says that it is not for tool storage. But I guess it depends on the person running the register..
