KCarGuy;I also use a HVLP system. which includes a Heated Turbine compressor. And Good Cross flow venting. But...Buy the Best Respirator that you can afford...its your lungs and Nervous system![/QUOTE said:KCarGuy...do you use the TP tools HVLP paint system (turbine) if so are there any tricks to using it? I've been thinking about getting one for quite awhile now. What kind of respirator do you use?
Full body paint suit, gloves, hood & supplied air full face respirator set up.What kind of respirators are you using? So much of the two pack paints now are full of isocyanates. I'm guessing no one is shooting with that? The old respirator just isn't up to that task. . .

.... but you can apparently use the purple filters on a half face. Just remember that you also absorb isocyanates through your skin/eyeballs etc.
No laughing at my 4-door g-body

Nice Jobs on the Civic and on the Cougar.
I love those Old Cougars!
For you guys that are painting in your garage at home:

I'm curious because I was warned off of painting in my garage a while ago and but I would still like to do another project or two. . .
Let me know what your using for paints and protection!

Hey DirtyWhite......get rid of the back bumper and put a rollpan on it. I sold this car to a coworker a while back (like a dummy) but I talked him into putting a rollpan on and it cleans up the back a lot I think. The pan came from Honest Charley's and is made for an ElCamino but is a direct boltup to the Malibus.
Most of what I have in my shop is used auction or CL purchases, so yes, I am a cheap *******. I have recently purchased one of the SATA Vision air supplied hoods, complete with the belt filter/regulator assembly. I had been looking for one to come along for about 4 years when I got that one. It was a couple years old and un-used, got a heck of a deal on it. So I am good to go on iso's. But for yoo guys using half masks, one thing to keep in mind is that they are also absorbed through the skin, and especially attracted to moisture. That means your eyes... So for better protection, anyone using a filter respirator and spraying iso's should at a minimum use a full face respirator. The one I used before getting the Sata hood was a 3M full face respirator, I think a 6000 series. This keeps the iso's out of your eyes, and features the same replaceable filter cartridges 3M uses on most of their masks.
Hey that wagon looks nice.
I don't think the tucked bumper looks too bad.....and its metal.
I like the fact that it is unlike a purchased part.
Oh yah, where would I put my license plates LOL
I wanted to start a Thread that everyone can show off their "At Home" Restorations or Paint Skills.
I know that there are some "Big Dollar" Professional Jobs that have been done on some Great looking Rides.
But this is for the "Do it yourself" Group.
Some are Quick Jobs and Some are as Good as the Pro Jobs done right out of your Driveway or in your Garage.
There will be some Old Paint Jobs as well as New Ones.
We all get Better and Learn from each Job that we do.
I will start with the First Full Paint Job that I did on a Friends Duster.
I used DuPont Lucite Acrylic Lacquer Paint back then (32 years ago).
We started by Stripping most of the Paint off with Paint stripper.
Then Sanded it down to the Metal, or Previous Bodywork.
