Built a new inside frame work for the front cover on my friends Gehl disc mower out of some 1" tubing. TIG welded it, we have both had some experience but are neither good at it for sure.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Dug through a cabinet to find a tire plug. Figured if I could hear the leak where the old plug was it should be replaced. Found a 30 pack of plugs and got the tire back on in ten minutes. The tire is up for replacement soon but I leave tomorrow early for a business trip and doubt the tire would have pressure after sitting in long term parking for two days at the airport. Now it's back to packing.

It is a bit of a hike, but come on down/over and I will lend you a hand!

Introduce him to Adevnture Rider, and a fly-n-ride introduction to the dark side will be in his future before you know it. A Vancouver to NoVA fly-n-ride is about perfect!

Started unpacking and figuring out what all I got on a craiglist buy. I suspect I will be starting a thread of some sort covering my new to me Matco box and the tools that came with it, but first I need to figure out what I actually have. Good problem to have.

Came back from an icy road trip to Colorado Springs and Wyndham's new Mining Exchange Hotel (remodeled from the 1870's), opened the garage doors and sat in the sun with my garage cat "Ghost". He and 5/8ths are always glad to see me and both sit in my lap although not at the same time.

Install new shocks on the Silverado. The Bilstein's are worth every penny.

I removed two windows and shingled over the outside openings, and I am in process of insulating and putting up the osb on the inside. I had 6 windows in my garage, when I am done I will only have two.

Worked on this Briggs motor, sat it in a drain pan and sprayed it with foam degreaser, by Gunk. Took the gas cap off the tank, some goof put a solid piece of some type of **** material in a vented cap and expected it to work, NOT!! Ordered gaskets and seals for it from NAPA.

I was doing some clean up around my Dad's old place. I moved this pile of old tires.

And found this.

I had forgotten that he even had this thing. The last time it was used was when I was dating my wife. We have been married for 22 years so it's been sitting there for at least that long untouched. I picked it up and hauled it to my shop.

My bud came over and he wanted to tinker with it. The starter was frozen so we took it apart and freed it up. Cleaned the gas tank and carb. Put some fresh gas in it and a hot battery and it fired right up and ran like a champ. But it wouldn't weld. So we pulled the covers and cleaned the rings and brushes and VIOLA! it welds like a brand new one. I couldn't believe it.

Finally got my pallet racks for the home garage, now to organize everything. They were 14ft tall but I cut them down to about 10ft, still need to paint them black.

Relatively warm out there today, so I replaced the upstream O2 sensor in the Grand Caravan.

Garage door wasn't working properly as it should. Hence, called professionals to get it repaired and found that the door spring was broken. Got it replaced and is now working smooth as butter.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Yetserday I cleaned all the disgusting gunk out of my no 2 chainsaw and dismantled it so I could get the part number off the broken starter pulley to order a new one (this is the saw from my place in France so it gets a fairly hard life) Then as I had some spare time I spent 45 minutes reorganising the contents of my toolbox and oiling everything as some tools had gotten a little rust on them over the winter in my damp garage. Still need to find a new home for a big bunch of files (engineering type files not paper!)

Today I hauled my 20hp Honda Ride-on mower out of hibernation, topped up the oil, filled it full of gas only to find the fuel line dripping fuel all over my boot (****** typical, why does it wait until it has a full tank to leak!) so I drained the tank and replaced the fuel line. I need to give it a full service before the grass cutting season begins in earnest but I did give the back lawn and orchard a quick once over as the grass is just strting to stir and tbh it missed out on its last cut because of the horrendous wet weather in the autumn. We've had two weeks of dry weather, the first for about six months, literally, so the ground has dried enough to get on it.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

-Replaced oxygen sensor on 2000 tundra, hardest part was disconnecting wiring in an almost impossible location.Second item was to replace solenoid conntacts on starter. The starter is under the intake manifold and at the rear of the motor.Intake and related hoses ,electrical went well. Two bolts to remove starter about one hour.you could see one bolt, the second one visable with a mirror only.Got it off and replaced terminals and back together in non record time. One hand beat up pretty bad but will heal soon.

Installed a 230v single phase motor on my Bridgeport milling machine and wired a drum switch so it runs in forward and reverse.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Made three brake lines for the Hillman Husky and installed them and front brake shoes. Tomorrow I'll get the master cylinder installed and hooked up ,if I have time before dinner I'll pull the rear end out from under it and go thru it.
Still got to order the brake shoes for the rear .
The old brake shoes look almost new but been on there scene the early 60's.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Was able to get two sessions today. The first was to clean up and continue organizing everything. Made great progress on that end. The second was to begin resurrecting a snowblower. 1979 Montgomery Ward Gilson. Got it from my father in law a few years ago and finally am able to start on it. Tore it down and need to get a new head gasket. Aside from that I think it is complete. Hopefully I can get it fired up before the end of the season.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Ran 3/4 black iron through basement and up through a 12' brick wall into garage and installed a ProCom 18,000 BTU gas heater. Had it in the box from two years ago. Was on close out for $19.99. Marked $180.00 off original price. I felt bad and asked if it was legit, manager said yes, headquarters knew about it and did not change it. Cost me $95.00 in fittings and pipe to install my $20.00 heater, but finally I have heat! Installed a shut off in the kitchen as well since there was somehow not one on the range. Will upgrade to a bigger unit in the long run, but for $20.00 I was not going to pass on it.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I fix the speed handle on my Bridgeport. Its the one for drilling. I pin was broken so I turned one on the lathe. The plastic knob broken as well. I took a 1-1/8 ball from a machine bearing I had to change for a customer. Heated it up red and held it there then let it cool to room temp. This annealed the hardened ball so I could mill a flat on it them drill and tap it to M8x1.25. Put that on to replace the broken one.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Got this started today day. Not a big deal I hear you shout. It has been sat in a barn for 18 years :( but it started after new points and some TLC on the fuel pump.

Really pleased, now to get it back on the road.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Got the last of the old Romex removed from all studs and walls.

Started laying out more conduit.

Mounted the new sub panel box completely. Made some temp circuits to have lights and a few outlets and music (of course).

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Still jealous of you guys. Still below freezing. I can last about 10 minutes out there. It's freakin March for crying out loud. We shouldn't be at 20°.

So, instead of out in the garage, I downloaded google sketchup and played around. I drew out my entire garage (or started to) including the framing (I have open studs in the garage.) I drew up a workbench, drew up some shelves, imported a few things like a tractor, a Toyota Rav4, my Craftsman tool box, and such to include. I never played much with Sketchup, it is definitely a time waster. I could play with it for hours.
