As I mentioned earlier I got the extra tall lift so I could fit a taller vehicle under the top vehicle.....in this case the suburban. Just being able to keep one more vehicle out of the monster garage is nice.
I darn near had to throw it in park. The first order of business today was to remove the master cylinder which is frame mounted. I think the master cylinder failed because there was plenty of fluid in the reservoir and no leaks in any of the brake lines. I guess you shouldnt let cars sit around so much.

Tomorrow we start to work on finishing the build room. As I look back I see I did not post many pictures of the room. I was not too proud of it because it was unfinished. With this upcoming party I have the inspiration to finish it.
I have been looking for a theme. I thought about a vintage gas station theme and a Vintage Chevrolet Dealership theme. I have ruled both of those out in favor of a Vintage Monster Garage theme. The overall perspective is I want it to look old. Therefore the top 5 feet of the outside of the build room/ parts loft will be corregated metal. This might signify a roof or a second story. The bottom 10 feet will be smooth concrete stucco. I am bringing in the artist who did a bunch of work on the inside of our home to antique the stucco to make it look old.
Now, I know most of you guys would already have a rendering of this idea all drawn up and you would know what it looked like before you did it which is probably the right way to do it.......not me I am going with my typical get started on the project and see where I end up.
There are going to be 4 phases of this project....
Drywall.......the ceiling of the build room will be drywalled. It will be finished smooth because I dont want any rough surfaces that will attract dust. I will also be drywalling the ceiling in the main garage where we added on the stairway up to the parts room.
Next week we will be putting a smooth finish stucco surface on the lower 10 ft of the exterior of the build room.
Hopefully by next weekend we will start installing the metal and finally
The artist will show up and put it all together.

The last few days we had about $6000 of parts show up from Ecklers Chevelle and she is checking them in.........lots and lots of parts. We have already ordered enough parts from Ecklers that we are getting 20 percent off which is a nice discount.
That would be cool but it might get a little scratched up!!
As you might have noticed I am a truck guy. I have always loved big trucks with big wheels. My dually is the first truck I have not run right out to buy new tires and wheels for. These car projects have put a damper in just going out to buy something cool so I have been patiently waiting to get some respectable wear on the stock tires before changing them out. So here is a before picture of my dually with the old tires and wheels on them. The factory hubcaps looked OK but I felt just like one of the other dually's running around.
I ordered some Nitto Dura Grappler 285/75-17's to go on the stock wheels. At close to 34 inches tall they look more in perspective on the truck than the original tires. I had been eyeballing some black custom wheels but really didnt see anything that excited me. Yesterday I decided to pull the factory chrome trim rings off and paint the original steel wheels black. I then re-installed the factory chrome caps and I was in love with the new look. My wife looked at it and said "OH, I dont like it.....I just thought you were half done with the project"
Damm and i was going to apply for the parts man position when I come down for the BBQ
but I planned on putting some kind of lettering on it.......maybe. Just playing around with it a bit.
You might be a redneck if you use some bed frames as a brace to weld to the windshield pillar to secure it while you replace the header bow

I've got a question for you guys actually running a business; can you claim tax deductions for business expenses like 'signage', depreciation on business expenses like 'bed frames' lol and the like? Other stuff like business construction costs, inventory storage area, consumables, and other unspecified costs may be a 'gray area' as far as your tax accountant is concerned.
.....everything you mentioned can be written off as a business expense....even the bedframe!! I am going to have the painter guy do it so it looks old. This picture is kind of what I want to do.........see how old it looks, a little rust running down the side and the old signage. This guy can make it look like this. 
She is ready to kill me!!!! Husband Bob just laughed.....I guess I take the pressure off of him by doing stupid stuff like this to make her mad.
Hey Mark, I'm sure most realize this, but the Monster Garage flamed logo is from Jesse James's old TV show. I'm sure your artist can mesh several ideas and styles together, creating something cool and unique for your unique space.
