Why don't you just go ahead and **** it out of the car, since you seem to do that so well
Nice score on the Parker![]()

Hi ho,
Many of the ads and catalog pages that get posted here are collected on the vise wiki, available here:

Hope that helps,

What is the maximun opening for a Rock Island 577 swivel base ( or a 597 non swivel)?

I needs to be asked what you paid for that beauty.
Here's a little 3" Wilton 830 I just finished up. It's super clean and works great. I paid $100 for it and it was pretty nice to begin with, just dirty. Manufacture date is 8/53 and it weighs in at 20 pounds.

16 lbs! (And that's actually not bad for a homeowner's exposed screw vise...) and had less than 1/2 the jaw width. Here's a little 3" Wilton 830 I just finished up. It's super clean and works great. Can anyone id this one. The CL seller is not the best in giving information.
Here's another "Can anyone ID this vise" post.
Called about this one this morning and got absolutely no information. Guy said that there weren't any markings that he knew of yet in the picture it looks like there are. I tried expanding the pics but the markings just distorted.
So if anyone can ID the brand of this vise I'd really appreciate it.
I have two vises I need to clean up and paint. One is a chas parker and the other is a samson. The chas parker was left here on the old work bench in the blacksmith shop. I took that bench out putting this vise on a mobil bench , made with stuff i had(cabnet,plywood,2x8s,counter top). The model #is hard to see ,looks like it was worn off somehow . Looks like no. 1X ,it opens aleast 61/2" I had it that far cleaning it.
The samson model is 5208 , it looks like it has been used alot. It looks like it was red. Looks like only one layer of paint ,orginal color ?
Not sure what color to paint them , any suggestions ? Anyone know the orginal colors ?
Will post better pic.
Thanks
That is a columbian, probably from 50-70's era as the name is vertical. Early ones had curved lettering. Good vise.
