Hey guys I picked up this Armstrong medical cart the other day. $50 off of Craigslist. I am pretty excited. I am going to take the bumper rail and casters off and make a bench over it.

Very nice. I hear those medical carts are built really well.

What are the dimensions? Is it ball bearing or friction slides?

Looks like $50 well spent

It does have ball bearing slides. It is 26" wide x 19" deep x 37" tall. The top three drawers are 3" deep, (2) are 6" deep and the bottom one is 8 or 9 deep.

Looking online these things are not cheap when they are new (what in the medical industry is?)

My tool box is an old crash cart . My mother bought it for me from the hospital she worked in . Its really just a Craftsman tool box.

Dang, ball bearing slide all for $50. Great deal.

I have one that was used as a crash cart. Like stanimal's, mine is just a repainted craftsman. It does have sweet castors on it though.

I like that lighter blue drawer. Must have been for something special.

I get those medical carts at auction frequently, they are usually made by a common tool box maker like Waterloo, and ALWAYS quality. Good score, sell those casters if you don't need them, they are heavy duty!

Sadly I cannot use it as a cart. I am in a single deep rental and the pad in the back is raised up a step. (no where to roll it) I have a buddy who already called dibs on the casters.

One of the features that I dig the most is there is a slide out tray on the top that slides out sideways and gives me additional work surface!

I am not sure why one drawer is light blue....

I am just excited to have some drawers with a little bit of depth (compared to what I am used to) I will post pics when I am done with the bench

Update. Here is what I ended up making with the cart. Got the desk top for free from work. Overall I am happy with the space. I also added this to the "let's see your workbench thread"

That's a very organized clean setup. How about a few more close up pics. What is that little 4 drawer cabinet with the round pulls? I need a pic of that!

Very nice cart and setup. I picked up the attached cart as part of a garage sale score that included a '78 GS550E and the cart filled with bike parts. Total cost was $100. I'm still working it into my garage layout but it is a great mobile unit for my uses.

OP, great score on the cabinet and nicely integrated into a bench station. Any plans to 'elevate' the parts storage units? I find that they are handy for often used parts, but I hate how they eat up the work surface real estate! I'm still living with them on my bench and need to build some type of hefty overhead shelf to hold them nearby, yet still allow me to maneuver both my magnifying FL and my drafting FL (same as you have) over the six foot workbench area.

Chazn it is a Dazor! and it is one of my favorite garage sale scores.

Ophalaskeptic I am still looking at where to hang the light blue parts bin. I was actually thinking under the desk part against the wall. I am open to ideas if anyone has a good one. I am going to hang a couple of pictures on the wall to keep the uncluttered look.

Bluebolt. The small blue box is similar to the Wards Master boxes that you can find on ebay. They go for quite a bit with a good amount for shipping as well try the flea markets or garage sales. I have some fittings for the air compressor in one of the small drawers the rest is pretty empty I need to figure out what to put in there. Maybe all of the pens that I have in cups up top.

That's a nice little box. The Wards box is the same "frame" as the Dunlap and Craftsman boxes with the round bump in each corner top and bottom for stacking. I hae two Dunlaps and a oval badge Craftsman, would like to get a crown badge Craftsman and a Wards too. I have been wondering what other companis might ahve a box on that same frame. Yours has a large rectangular raised area on type, probably the same on the bottom too.

I hauled a huge one home for free, years ago. I hated it. The drawers weren't really good for storage of anything but some of my skill saw and two chains. Every time I'd turn around I'd bump the lock and have to unlock the dang thing. Finally, after a year, I gave it away.

Sense my wife worked at a University that was connected to 2 hospitals I have had a chance to pick up many an old metal rolling cabinet used in the hospitals. I have been using them for the past 30 years. They are very well built and cheap when you can get them. Nice find. I use old lateral check files form the days they saved checks. the cabinets are 42 inches wide and have 2 drawers for every one a normal cabinet has. I have been using them for 35 years. I have 15 of them between here and my farm. I keep all my construction tools, plumbing tools, clamps and things in them. File cabinets are great for power tool storage I keep all my routers, sanders, saws and the like in them. It keeps the clutter out of the shop and dust off the tools in my cabinet shop. I started using files for tools 35 years ago and still have not found anything better for storing some items. I have over 450 clamps here in California and more on the farm. The files are great for clamp storage. I can't get my long Bessy clamps made in Germany in them but then I have a rack for all my pipe and long clamps.
Tool boxes are not always the way to go. I have carts like yours and I put small sanders and other machines on them. They are a perfect height for so many things.

Nice clean setup. What is that red tool box with the handle next to the lamp if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks guys!

Bluebolt the measurements are 6x6x8.

TampaGT: No surgical tools were included, I am at least the second owner.

TXUSA03: The red box is an Excel 14" cantilever toolbox. I got it off Amazon to hold my SAE stuff. I am shocked by how much that swallowed up. It freed up a ton of space in the larger box. I think I paid $18 and I would highly recommend it. I have a cherokee, the wife has a Passat but I mostly work on bicycles and have a pretty sweet workstation set up for that. So most of what I use is metric with SAE just often enough to need to get at it easily.

4X4gearhead. It is almost never this clean. I have a 6 year old daughter who loves to "help" in the garage and she is like a hurricane. This past winter I took a long look at what do I really use. I packed away some of the quality extras in case they need to replace something broken. I got rid of most of the junk. It was very freeing to look at things with a minimalist eye. I have hoarding tendencies that will clutter up any flat surface in a heartbeat. Right now I am looking to have a place for everything and if there isn't a place then there is a good chance that it will get purged.
