I am sick of two things. Bringing my customers to the shop I work at with zero compensation. I am also sick of the disorganization of my tool bag when I bring tools back and forth. So I am looking for some sort of mobile toolbox that I can pack wrenches, sockets, and pliers in and take home for weekend projects. Any suggestions would help.

Buy a handful of cheap stuff for home, maybe splurge on some of the common items like vise grip and channelock. No way I would carry stuff home every week.

I asked for a mobile toolbox solution not a lecture. I have a large amount of money invested in quality tools I don't need duplicates or cheap **** to use at home. I just would like an Idea on a small toolbox that can be carried. That is durable and has storage capacity.

It's completely off topic. I gave a little background and said what I was looking for. If I asked "should I buy more tools or should I buy a tool box to carry my tools from work?". Then his comment would be valid. I am not the ******* for trying to abort this post from going off topic. My point was I was looking for opinions on mobile storage for my tools. Like a specific nice box i know 10 years ago craftsman used to sell this awesome tool tote but i do not see them anymore.

That would work for maybe one set of sockets. Do you know where I could purchase a bulk supply of paper bags?

At this rate I am sure the next helpful post will tell me to weld a trailer hitch to my service cart.

I would suggest an old Huot, maybe a Snapon or MBC.

The only problem, is that these things get heavy FAST. If you have a strong back, and don't mind moving tools around all the time, I think its a decent idea.

Buy a used metal box and carry that thing man I work in two shops and have to carry tools back and forth. Metal plastic five gallon bucket I've used them all just do it on the cheap.....oh ya I also have a large investment since it matters :dunno: or just get some extra cheap tools to have at home man it's way easier

So you will haul a box and load it up and then take it back and forth? How often do you plan on doing this.

Whenever I can make a few hundred I own a truck so I can leave this facing outward in the back seat. I could use the excersize.

I have used these Montezuma portable boxes before and they are awesome to work out of in a mobile situation.

Winner! Thank you sir. Ordering now

i have 4 of them in various sizes from small to large and old to new. they will hold an amazing amount of stuff and can be quickly loaded and unloaded. the way they are made, the smallest one is fairly easy to carry by one person. the small one will hold about as much as a small 26 inch box with a smaller physical size. i have done a few threads on them if you search my stats. they are also nearly indestructable.

Despite what many people think, they don't have ALL the answers. The advantage of a group like this is the combined brain power. Even if you have a specific problem you want solved, there might be some alternate solutions you haven't even thought of. That someone would take the time to offer them to you is laudable, not a chance for criticism. A question in a public forum will result in many off the point responses. Pick the ones you need and let the others go.

And since you buy only the best tools, you probably won't be happy with anything but the best portable box. Get a SO. And off topic, if the size and weight of the quality box and the tools is too much, think of a collapsible rolling cart to tote it. Or how about some dividers or small organizational boxes or tool rolls to put in your tool bag? Let people help you think outside the box (Pun intended) and you won't get boxed in (Pun intended again)!
