I recently picked up a set of Wright sockets (355, deep 6-pt metric 6-19) and 3430 ratchet from Hardware Sales in Washington state.
First, let me say that Hardware Sales is AWESOME. Great service, first through fleaBay and then through their own website, where I actually made the purchase. Ordered Sunday night with standard shipping, arrived yesterday afternoon. For an American living in Canada, this is a breath of postal fresh air... Canada is a postal backwater, and getting anything this fast and for this cheap is truly remarkable.
Second, I'm less than impressed with the Wright sockets. They're nice enough, but I'd have expected a $100 set of sockets to be just a little bit nicer... The broaching on the 7mm is incomplete. This isn't a big deal for me, as I rarely use a 7mm deep socket, let alone in 3/8". (In fact, the 7mm looks like it came from a completely different set; the taper/chamfer is a different depth or diameter than the 6, 8, or 9.)
The larger ones all have clean broaching, but they also have minor rust spots - new, out-of-the-shrink-wrap rust. Again, not a huge deal for me as the humidity here rarely gets above 5%. I just would have expected slightly better, especially with QC-guy 415's "proud" sticker on the bottom of the neat plastic rail.
And coming from an old Tennessee family, I can imagine my forebears making similar tools...and I can imagine them doing a better job. I have some Taiwanese Westward sockets that are perfect. Can't Ohio muster the same?!
