I just cut it up into pieces that fit inside of each panel frame, then went around each section with aluminum tape.

Where did you pickup the aluminum tape? I have nearly the same insulation on my door, the silver, but I have a fiberglass insulation kit underneath so I definitely need to tape the edges down...

Good on the shiny wrenches too!! I have now decided you have enough Snap On to justify your going out and buy a NEW Snap On Tool Chest. I am sure your vise, hack saw, and wrenches are going to start having offspring soon.

I was getting gas today and noticed the truck next to me had a red metal snap-on wall cabinet in the bed. Right away, I asked the guy if it was something he might wanna get rid of. He in return told me he just bought it and it was full of air conditioner repair tools. In hindsight, I'm not sure why I even inquired about it, I don't need a big red metal cabinet hanging on my wall... On an unrelated note, I hope to paint my vise tomorrow! Just as long as its not raining. I sure hope I can find some new Snap-On plates for it.

That vise looks to be in really excellent shape. It should restore very nicely. Thanks for showing the tear down. It just yells out quality whether assembled or "field stripped".

Man, I need to repaint my huge Wilton. It's not a bullet vice, DOH! And it's in excellent condition - unfortunately it's that puke electric yellow color.

Great job Derrick, but now you've put one more thing on my To Do list.

Thanks Dan. After going though the vise, I decided I just had to clean it up. It was acually kind of enjoyable.

Very cool! That vice turned out awesome - how long did you ponder making it Yamaha blue? =)

Thanks, I thought it over for a good couple days at least. However, after someone mentioned it might start getting a bit monochromatic I started to see it. The red turned out good enough for me. :)

Are you gonna paint the fascia of the bench? Would be cool in black to complement what you just did on the top.

I was actaully going to go pick up some black paint when I get off work this evening to paint it with. :)

It is me and my wife in our 60's and daughter and son in law in their 40's and two grandkids in the 6 to 11 year range. If we worked say 10 years for you at hard labor would you give me THAT VISE?

Wow, based on the response for your vice i would do a GJ auction. At this rate you could finance a new Bike with the proceeds. hahaha.

I put a light above it too. :rocker: Ill add another coat of black tonight and think about what I'm going to do with the brown cabinet.

Its funny eh, that's the by product of having a garage where you have touched and improved almost everything in your space, when there is something left over it really sticks out.
