Re: what did you do in your garage today?
Nice wheels, look right on the truck!
Jim
PS I got out my motorcycle for the ride to work in DC!
Thanks Jim. I agree, the ones I had before were too busy for my liking but I had purchased them used when I bought the truck. It was just time to upgrade to something that fit my personality and the truck's a little better. Glad you were able to get out and ride.
Looks good! Best year for Dmax right there! You running a tuner?
Thanks. I agree on the year. When I was looking I really wanted an 06 because of the higher output engine as well as the six-speed Allison and NOT the 07-up emissions ****. They were out of my price range so I started looking at 04.5-5 with the LLY but couldn't find one that hadn't been driven into the ground or beat on. I just saved up for a few more months and then lucked out when I ran into this one. It was out of Arizona and only had 58k miles on it. Only drawback at the time was manual windows but I was really after the drivetrain, I figured I could live without electric windows. Now after owning it for 5 years I don't even miss the electric windows.
When I bought it the previous owner evidently didn't know what a tailgate was used for because he must have thrown everything over the bedsides and missed quite a lot. It had little dents and dings all down the bedsides and the tailgate had been hit/repaired.
Two years ago, I removed the bed, repaired/repainted and replaced the tailgate with a new OEM one. I also purchased some smooth OEM fender flares and painted/installed them replaceing the textured black ones. I then installed the white/chrome door handles at the same time as well as debadged and buffed/polished the rest of the truck out.
I have an EGR blockoff with fingerstick, Banks Monster exhaust, PCV re-route plus the 6" RCD lift, New 20" MKW wheels and 36" BFG tires. It pulls out 26' enclosed trailer with the sand toys fantastic so I haven't added a tuner at this time. I need to start driving it more as it is a blast to drive but it just turned over 80k a couple of weeks ago when I had to renew my registration. I only put 2300 miles on it last year.
Mike.
