I decided that since I'm an offical tightwad I would attempt my own sheetrock. I can tell you that not only has it taken twice as long as I would have imagined, but I have an addded benefit of losing nearly ten pounds and improved muscle tone (the ceiling was a killer). I'm just about to prime the walls. Have you decided on your paint color, or are you staying with white? The color is my next big decision, still haven't figured it out.
Looks bright! How is the quality of the light? The bright "point source" effect bothersome at all? Guess you may not notice in day-to-day use, and may not be able to tell until you are actually using it ...
Looks like its coming along nicely. I like the door on the side of your garage. The ceiling lights are a little different from the lighting I've seen in other garages but I bet you will save some dough and they will light up your garage just fine. Again, your brick is sweet!
That is shaping up to be a very solid garage. Good luck with the next steps.
You need my MowerBoss for that mower of yours![]()
Looks awesome! Love the paint color. I will be taking notes on your organization ideas .. I'm planning for mine also. Just finished my electric, will post soon.
Congratulations on the completion of a fine looking garage! The brickwork really is good looking. Do you have any need for gutters/downspouts there in your part of Texas? Any plans for shrubbery or flower beds along any of the outside walls?
Congrats! I knew you'd be done quickly...
Is the door a Clopay insulated? I have one on order and had to choose the level of insulation. I was surprised to see that they make a door with R value > 12.
Look forward to seeing those cabinets, metal or wood?
Looks like you have plenty of light in there.
You need to scrub that floor, your car tires are complaining
While its only hit mid-80's have you tried the A/C unit?
WooHoo! Looks nice! How does she roll, those wheels big enough? More important do they lock? Color reminds me of my Navy shipboard days.......
The electrician finished today. It is hard to take a picture of lighting. You have to be there to really experience how bright the lighting is. I am very happy with the results. It is a very economical way to light a garage. Porcelain fixtures and screw in cfl bulbs.
I couldn't agree more. Back when i was doing my 600sf addition w/13' ceilings I couldn't decide on fixtures so I just had the electrician put (9) porcelain fixtures in so that I could pass the inspection. I picked up a package of daylight CFL's at Costco (75W using like 9W) for about $12. It lights up the garage like a basketball court and can burn all day at the cost of a 100W bulb. It's a great choise, IMSO.
