I understand now. Maybe I should have stated "ready for the roofers". I believe they put the tar paper down before the shingles. I'm too old to climb on the roof, I just write the check and let the pros do their job.

lol, right on!

did you think about windows on the side facing the road, to match the house?

I did considered it but I did not want the curved top windows in the garage to match the house.

This is the view from that side of the garage to the west.

I chose to put windows in the back wall.

Love the lawnmower storage idea but I've decided to keep my mower in the attached garage instead. My mower creates too much mess after use. Coming along nicely!

I needed the attached garage for the three daily drivers and by making a separate "room" for lawnmowers and the garden tools it keeps the clutter out of the main garage.

Its coming along and looking great! I like the lawnmower/yard tool room! I was just looking at my tractor last night...thinking I want it and its buddies out of my space as they do leave a slight mess. Think I might move them to the attached. Oh well, good luck with the build!!!

Nice job for 4weeks work, I have a truss roof on my garage, not much storage space though.Should keep dry with all that ventilation.

Please let me know how the 24,500 BTU unit works ... I was told by someone that only a mini-split A/C would work well in the Texas heat. Will this be a wall-mount or window mount?

I think as long as you have proper insulation a window unit should work just fine. I will have 6" in the walls and 15" in the ceiling. The attic will have good ventilation and the garage doors will be insulated. I will let you know even though it was below freezing last night air conditioning season is just around the corner.

It will be a wall mount.

It is interesting to see the different building techniques just 70 miles away. When I compare the garage JDishong is building, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158755 , to the garage I am building there are some differences.

His slab uses a different method and I used coated osb where he used foam board on the sides. We both used the same roof sheeting with the foil on the underside. I am not sure any one is better than the other just different. We will both end up with great garages.

The sheet rock showed up today. They may start doing it tomorrow but probably Monday because tomorrow is Good Friday.

If you get a chance can you get a picture of the A/C unit exterior for me? I need to see how far it hangs outside the window frame. - THanks!

Thanks. I have seen some "hotel type" units that are much maybe 24"-30" wide and 18"-24" in height and they fit within the wall; nothing hangs out. I don't think my HOA would allow this but I'll check. - thanks again!

Sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

It's been a good week. The brick was started and completed, the windows and air conditioner were installed, the walls were insulated, and sheet rock has been started.
