Got this crown top box and a few tools at a garage sale today. Rusty on the top, sides, and bottom and the latches, but pretty decent. Might line the bottom with some thin plywood and make some organizers or something.

I don't have much Craftsman stuff, but quite a bit of what I do have is Crown Top that I bought new.

Die grinder that I posted in another thread a couple of days ago:

Same router as another that was posted recently. Not a great shot of the badge, but it's a crown top:

Micrometer torque wrench. Different markings, but same style case as what Rickster posted. That case design is pretty cool, but it takes up more room than both of my Proto torque wrench cases together:

Next size smaller tool box than the one Jeff just found. Pretty beat up, but still solid and fuctional:

Got a bit of Crown Top goodness in the mail today. An ebay snag ($30) in nearly new condition with only a light wipe down. A full set of "Circle V" (=V= era) nut drivers in the original pouch.

"Crown Top - When men were men, tools were tools, and bra's and automobile's would poke your eye out if you got too close"

.

Coworker offered to buy the box from me for 20 bucks...I don't want to get rid of it! I want to make a nice restoration project out of it.

A couple of finds from today, bought with some other stuff, I have roughly $3 in both of these, router template guide bushings and small router bit set.

Picked up a 1/2 HP Block Grinder today. I have others, but this one is a donor. As it turns out, I'm very found of this guy, just like all my other Block Grinders.

I can't help myself. :( It's a sickness I tell you, these grinders get into my blood.

I don't know if I can part with any more of them. I did give my brother two very clean non-Crown Top grinders: a 1/4 & a 1/3 HP.

When it comes to the Crown Top or Commercial ones, it's a different story.

Well, it turns out I have another dual voltage grinder, but while I was looking for it I found this cabinet, waiting it's turn to be refurbished.

This must be a good area for vintage CM tools, there are often 2-3 Block Grinders on CL at any one time.

The recent 1/2 HP one was about 15 mins from where I work, but there is 2 others for ~$40 in the other 2 adjacent counties; one for sale by a fellow forum member. Ha, now that I think of it, he sold me this cabinet.

Went to a small town flea market yesterday where they close off several streets and the booths are in the street parking spaces. Was going through a building full of stuff, heading out the door when I saw something goldish buried in the corner. A closer look revealed a Power Bronze Craftsman Crown lablel 6"x48" belt/9" disc sander on a stand, an item I have been having a hard time locating. Asking price? $100 and it is supposed to work. We dig it out, plug it in and hit the switch. NOTHING! Fiddle with it some more, try again. Nothing still. We know we have power to the plug so I ask what price as is? $25! SOLD! It even has the original belt which is the old style underlined Craftsman logo.

Alos pictured is a Crown label wood rasp I found today while cleaning up the garage.

I just missed out on one of these on an original sheet metal crown top stand for $75, someone called before me :eyecrazy:

I'm jealous of the wall cabinet torqueman...

Scored a RAS from CL today for $60 with intentions on using the base for my drill press cabinet but it works great and happens to be a crown top, now I'm torn on keeping it or repuposing the base...

I listed some stuff on Craigslist last night and already had one buyer for $129 :D $100 will go for the ever present credit card bill and the other $29 is mad money LOL. So I checked my ebay watch list, found a buy it now $27 shipped and picked up this Craftsman Crown logo parts box. It has some drawer issues but I will work with it LOL. Now what can I do with my $2 I have left?

Yesterday I picked up these Crown logo saw blades for $3 for both, the one on the right the logo is pretty much gone from use.

Here is something small to add. Not the original tool but was replaced with a tool for gaping points.

^^^love that parts box!^^^

I have two Dunlap and a Craftsman oval badge 4 drawer version of these. The drawers on the Crown one appear the same as the oval badge Craftsman. They do have the four drawer version with a Crown sticker as well. And the same company made a green version for Montgomery Wards as well, if I don't find one at a garage sale I will get one from ebay. The Wards ones run around 40 to 50 for a nice one.

I am a cheap ******* and I would not pay ebay prices for that, but I will have to search the small boxes like that now at yard sales.
The plastic gets so brittle on them I just don't look at them any more.

I like this one because it has an embossed craftsman emblem and not a decal. My others I picked up at estate sales and flea markets for about 6 to 8 bucks each as I remember. The drawers are all in nice shape.

the crown top logo was used by craftsman around the 60's, some one else can say the start and finish dates.

I wonder why it is called Crown Top? It looks more like tire tread to me. Maybe Crown Top sounds better then Tire Tread Top.

I will look in my garage for some.

Had to post mine after jakemac linked from eBay. Any help with deleting my last erroneous pic. Thanks
