Not sure about the price, but isn't that a fairly uncommon ratchet (even by Craftsman standards)?

There are some stupid prices on old USA Craftsman stuff. Saw $250 for a stubby metric wrench set a while ago....I'll take SK at that price point!

In my opinion those are awesome ratchets, but I dont like round head ratchets, they dont always fit when youre up against a surface, the added diameter of the head has always been a turn off to me in the things I come accross. You could have a few nice snap on's for that kind of money, or any high end brand for that matter.

It wasn't the seller that set the final price. The auction started at 99¢, it was the 18 bidders that drove the price up to $360. A big payday for the seller. Auction fever for the bidders.

Somebody posted an auction for one of those maybe a year ago, and same thing. I'm not sure that one got this high, but it was over $200.

I've been keeping an eye out at sales!

The crazy thing is that they were still making the RHFT at least until they started forging the "Warning: ..." into the handle of the breaker bars; I'm not sure which year they started that, maybe someone knows? So they were made for quite a number of years, meaning they cannot be all that uncommon. I could go on but bottom line they are not worth hundreds of dollars, IMO.

Wow! I will be watching yard sales for those, and straight onto ebay they will go.

Good grief, why anyone would part with so much coin for one of those things is beyond me. It's not like they were great ratchets. I like how the seller added "The best Craftsman ratchet ever made" to the bottom of his listing...LOL that is probably true!

I would guess $360 never changed hands.

I bet you're right. Straight hussling going on. The seller bids up a couple times, pays a few bucks in fees. Then lists it again and sells it for $200 to some sucker thinking he stole it for that because the "last two went for over $300"

I have one I just stripped the gears on last week and need to get a replacement.

I was hoping to swap gears out of a Regular 1/2" craftsman but no luck.
I got it from my grandfather and I don't want to exchange it for a china one, if they still make them???

The 1/2" RHFT Kit can be had here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Allen-1-2-D...KIT-USA-K33-/400417500166?hash=item5d3abe2c06

IF the actual gears are stripped though... they are part of the head. If it's just the pawl or mech, then grab a kit.

There are so many fine tooth flex head ratchets out there that it is stupid to pay that much.

My guess is that it will probably never see a socket, IF the money actually changed hands. It looks to me that there was either a shill involved, or someone was getting tired of getting outbid and was determined to make whomever won really pay.

Yea if you really want one you can normally wait a little while and find a KD, Allen, Easco for around $20-$30 that will be the same exact ratchet with a slightly different handle.

I think the handle is a swap. Even 1990's Craftsman stuff doesn't have the eye protection warning. RHFT was way before that!

I bet you guys will be searching high and low for Craftsman round head quick release ratchets now won't ya.:lol:

How come you guys aren't whining about the same seller geting $152.50 for a 3/8 drive flex head RHFTQR ratchet or $32.78 for a regular 3/8 drive RHFTQR ratchet? Cat got your tongue?:wtf:

I searched completed auctions back to may and there was a well used 1/2 flex head that went for $102.

Then there's the guy selling 3 repair kits for $50 and has done several times.

I browsed my 2008-2009 Craftsman tool catalog and right there on page 71, the 3/8 round head flex head is listed for $23.99 and the 1/2 drive round head went for $33.99. The pictured ratchet does have the warning on the handle. The regular 3/8 round head was a whopping $18.99. my how things have changed in a few years.

I can't imagine someone paying over 10 times the new price for a Craftsman ratchet but, everyone has their own value system.

If the deal is real, KUDOS to the seller. Now, I'm leaving to hit the pawn shops for some Craftsman Gold!!

This will get those resellers all juiced up I suppose.

I saw the 3/8 reg and flex too. I even bid max of $20.11 for the standard 3/8. Unfortunately I think these prices will become the norm for USA craftsman for collectors. Strange, never really thought of tools as collector items or even antique especially if I could still get some use out of it. Seriously considering selling all my craftman usa made tools fom the last 40+ yrs and retiring. LOL

Going back to the junk shops to see what they have...

If E-idiot buyers will do THAT, I'm in for hunting up one of those...

What's frustrating nowadays is going into every pawn shop and junk dealer out there,
and seeing Ebay up on their computer at the counter...and everything priced 20% above the highest closed auction for everything...

Almost have to find stuff at a yard sale or estate sale before
sellers aren't convinced that their old rusty POS whatever is a
"rare vintage American made classic ...."

Auctions like that don't help...
