4 big guys will have you up in no time, especially if you're all marked out! Good luck with the erection, it'll be far nicer working under things on your feet vs back!

I never sell a tool thats paid for! Actually,I dont think I've ever sold a tool, period! One must just be patient sometimes. It was in my old shop,my son and some of his friends took it down and brought it up. We all knew the shop wasnt ready for it,and I couldnt use it up here when it was sitting down there,so no big deal.
Everyone decided to go fishing this morning,so when they get back we can do it. In the meanwhile,I had a **** - ton of mowing to do anyway.

We got it up in about 1.5 hrs,no problems. It came out square and plumb with no shims or monkey bussiness. Tomorrow I'll drill some holes and beat some parabolts in them!

That image is SO disturbing that I'm not going to re-quote it.
I'd have to look at it again to do that...
Now that I think of it, that may be one of the most disturbing images
I've seen on the Internets...

No monkey business--that's good. Monkey business is what stared the whole AIDs thing.

Now, mount something on that erected thing and post more pics.

Did it take 2 years to decide where you wanted to put it ? Or just a matter of getting around to getting it up ?

EDIT: even serious question sound horrible in this thread.

It took that long to have the space cleared out to do it. I built the building to house all the machines and equipment that was in my still functional shop in toledo, almost 300 mi south. The winters being what they are up here,I had to store all my building supplys inside the building while I was working on it. Then there was the issues that resulted when we would make a trip south, dismantle and truck a trailer load up and have to store that inside untill I could install it,the logistics were a nightmare. Then I had 2 heart attacks,3 stints, and a serious bout with 90% renal failure that then resulted in a 3 week case of c-dif.That slowed me down a bit to. One bay had to be left open at all times for emergency repair or maintanence of my snow removal equipment, plow truck and the new holland with the 7' blower on it. We ended up with a couple more mules than we had planned for,so the mule barn was full, meaning that from nov to april, the chicken truck had to be in the shop too.All the while, everytime we went to toledo,a trailer load would come back with us.So thats why it sat, buried in a corner for two years!

edit) I knew exactly where it and the 2 bridge cranes (which are not both here yet) was going. The concrete was feathered out to 12" thick and a rebar grid put in place. The small bridge crane is here, but its outside. It has to have the colums extened 18" to work with the higher cieling I have in this building. Thats the next thing after the lift is done. Then sometime in there I have to finish up the electrolytic deruster that I started!

My lift arrived sometime around August last year, I had my huge erection the last weekend of January and then it was functional in March when by buddy came up to help.

It is nice to have friends to help with and talk about erection problems with.

But the true triumphant climax is when you take that big mamma up in the air and get to do some work on her underside without having to contort into odd shapes just to get the right angle of attack on the project.

Two years is not bad, have over two lifetimes worth of projects stacked up here, hopefully I will get to finish them all. Bought a used Western lift last year for a real good price that could not be passed up, it is still sitting right where it came off the trailer, though the bottom has been wire-brushed and painted. Mine will be set up by myself with the help of a cherry-picker, don't have any friends with good enough backs to help.
