After seeing what some of you guys are able to find, the yard sales around here **** ***! Its all just old baby clothes, B.S. little knick knacks, and old 80's and 90's crappy electronics. Good tool sales are very few and far between. Its starting to burn me out of even going to garage sales.
You have some good swap meets though try those. I got a map of my area and highlighted all the older neighborhoods. Then I compare that to those listed on yardsaletreasuremap.com Old tools are found at older homes with yard sales!

First score of the weekend a PARK toolbox #802 for $10. I wasn't even trying just happened to see it on the way home from work.

OOps! Yeah I paid 25 for the whole lot, 20 for the sockets and an additional 5 for the box with contents.
LEK would be 3rd quarter of 42! Wow!!
Sounds decent, I like that speed handle with the fat wide handle, favored tool on KC-135's and B-52's I worked on. We could not use power tools of any sort on the screws for the aluminum panels, some panels had 100's of screws! The fat wide knob was favored for being able to put body weight removing stubborn screws. They got harder to find and some toolboxes had wide aluminum knobs that slipped over the long thin handles on the newer speed handles.
The only swapmeet around here is very hit or miss and most tool things are bought before the gates open by other sellers and flippers and then charge 5 times what they paid. The yard sale treasure map site is cool though, i'll be giving that a try.You have some good swap meets though try those. I got a map of my area and highlighted all the older neighborhoods. Very true, didnt think about that.Stick with it, it's been before mother's day since I had a good weekend. Fall is good, it's hot as hell right now here.
I see lots of those too (I don't stop unless I see "Junk" boxes...). do you do any pre-planning or juts cruse? The latter will be frustrating anywhere...

I check the old ares in town but not a whole lot going on in them. they are the areas where i mostly just cruse around and look. I did find one lady selling her late husbands tools but her son had gone through them and picked out most the good stuff. Al lot of the tools left was the HF stuff.i seldom find anything worthwhile toolwise in a newer neighborhood.
i check around the areas that have older homes, built in the late 50's-early 60's. a lot of those homeowners have now reached retirement age, or have passed away.
couple of my favorite tool destinations are a resale shop, and a "junk" flea mkt in an older, less disireable part of town....
seems like you cant swing a dead cat without hitting a pawn shop around here, there are probably 10 within 20 minutes of me, only 3 are worth my time to stop by once a month or so....

and a Craftsman hammer. Not shown is a pair of 6" Petersen vise grips.
Sales have been slow around here. Tool sales have mostly been Chinese junk so I haven't gone to many. But today I went to one.
30 bucks got me all this. Columbia gyro vise, small anvil, a bunch of electrical boxes (not pictured), craftsman pro drill bit and driver set, some craftsman chisels, sears ratcheting ball screwdriver, craftsman pipe cutter, mini mag, sharpening stone and case, binoculars, and a bunch of zippo style lighters, most are zippo brand.
]
those grader blades are crazy, just sold one on ebay for $535 for an old sears tractor

Wish I had more time this morning at this estate, but there was a parade starting at 10 that I had to make it back for so I only got 15 minutes or so. It's almost all Cornwell, I have to do some sorting tonight to figure out what's actually in the tray. Sorry no pricing since I'm probably selling this lot.
I'm waiting to see if I beat Rickster to a sale, I'm going to bet if he wasn't there when this opened he popped in during the day.
Today from 8am to 1pm I went to 3 estate sales, plus a few hard sales along the way. I've been looking for a Kennedy Machinist chest for a while and spotted it in the list. Arrived 45mins before sale started, and was first in line. Chest was marked $40, and tools inside were marked $10-$30 each. Total came to about $190, but several of the tools weren't needed, so I pulled them out and got the chest and contents for $70. Wilton vice (my first) was another $10. Delta 4in Jointer was another $32 (they were asking $45, I offered $30 and we settled on $32). The other odds and ends were another $5, including some mandrels, dental tools, and some gauges.
Here is the haul from the first sale. There are two Starrett pin vices, some gauge blocks, starrett divider, and lots more I still have to dig through.

Next sale had nearly no tools, but I did find two commercial grade hoses on the back porch. $5 for both.

Last sale was a commercial landscaper estate sale. Lots of made in korea, taiwan, china and japan tools, but I dug around and found these. 600N wireless router, leather stamping kit, palm ratchet (I've been looking for one) etc. Total for this was $20.
