How do you guys contain the mess / dust etc created when using your bench grinder - it just seems to get everywhere?

The better bench grinders have vac ports made into into the back of their guards/shields for a reason

Mine is on a pedestal near the overhead door.

Weather permitting open the door and jimmy the pedestel to the opening.

Bad weather (9 months), at least I'm close to the door for cleanup.

I have a baldor pedestal grinder its hooked up to a vacuum. The vacuum is wired to table saw switch. It senses the grinder turning on and provides a 120v output to turn on the vac.

Mine sits on a table that is hinged on the wall. When I get done using it, I remove the leg and drop the table down against the wall. That gets it out of the way for more room. Any mess? I just use a broom and a dust pan. :)

To clarify, mine is a factory unit that came with a 3 phase pedestal grinder that I bought at auction. Since it was 3 phase, it went for cheap and I just bought a new grinder to bolt to the top. The only thing I had to change was to fabricate new "chutes" to match the new Baldor grinder.

Make one of those water traps between your grinder and vacuum, prevent sparks from reaching the debris collection point.

Never seen this water trap? Anyone have a photo or more details please. Sounds like a good idea.
