First of all..
get it off the bench and build a pedestal for it. make a fold up screen (like a shower curtain) to put around it/you to contain the grindings from going everywhere. Use a vac after use.
And also you could get a piece of cheap ribbed rubber matting to stand on.
It will catch a lot of the debris and stop it being tracked around. simply shake outside when finished ( when you vac up).
I have a baldor pedestal grinder its hooked up to a vacuum. The vacuum is wired to table saw switch. It senses the grinder turning on and provides a 120v output to turn on the vac.
Mine sits on a table that is hinged on the wall. When I get done using it, I remove the leg and drop the table down against the wall. That gets it out of the way for more room. Any mess? I just use a broom and a dust pan.
To clarify, mine is a factory unit that came with a 3 phase pedestal grinder that I bought at auction. Since it was 3 phase, it went for cheap and I just bought a new grinder to bolt to the top. The only thing I had to change was to fabricate new "chutes" to match the new Baldor grinder.
