Started up a 4 cycle Craftsman mini tiller in about 4 pulls. Only started it once last year. Idled like a rock after taking the choke off a minute later. Gotta love 4 stroke small engines!

Costs $370 new, on sale now for $299. Put it on CraigsList for $175/bo to get rid of it since I don't use it anymore.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Today was ATV love day. Started the summer tune up. Of course, I ran into rusted bolts (had to drill/cut a couple), rust (re-painted windshield brackets), missing products (don't have air filter cleaner) and tools (need a thin cut off wheel for the grinder)...but....found a suitable spare 12volt socket (amazing it fit) and the normally very tight gearshift knob was reasonable to remove (I may pick up a non-OEM one tomorrow). Tomorrow will be fluid changes and if I get to town to pick up the belt I ordered I'll finish the job.

Here is a bench I just completed. I stole the idea from a bench I saw at a local hotel. It is made out of 2x6 pressure treated wood and thatched with palm fronds from my trees. The unfinished pic does not include the three tiers of wood that I attached to the roof supports in order to attach the palm fronds to.

Toddacimer, I like your tailgate benches.

My wife would be quite jealous of that bench!

Bench is all stained and just needs to have the door attached to the top. Will be working on the top shelves this weekend.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Had a battery short internally on my 06 Duramax yesterday. Actually I think it was pissed because I hadn't driven it in a few weeks. I removed the batteries and while they were out I bead blasted the battery trays and applied some POR-15 to the trays.

I also decided to flush the cooling system as it was time for new coolant. I then pushed her outside the shop (as there were no batteries in it) and gave her a good wash/ vacuum and detail job. Pushed her back in and tonight I can throw the battery trays back in and the batteries.

All she needed was a little love.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Tore down parts of my ATV, replaced rusty bolts on skid plates, foot wells etc. Started to change belt and got snagged with stripped inserts (known issue with Can-Am CVT housings).

Needed to change wheel in angle grinder (BOSCH pws 5-115)- discovered I don't have the thin wrench (no spindle lock) so I'm stymied until I can get to the store. Bhah....semi failed day but more relaxing than the office :)

Unpacked and assembled the cheap, black US General toolbox from HF. It's a gift for my wife. She decorates cake (think Cake Boss or Ace of Cakes type cakes) and she probably has as many cake decorating implements as I have tools. It's really cheap and if you put any weight in it I doubt it would hold up but for what she's doing with it, it'll be perfect. $159.00 bucks! Not bad!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I spent a large part of the day cleaning out my dad's storage unit. He died overseas last year at the age of 67, and this is the first time I've been able to come down to retrieve his tools. Even managed to break down his Walker to fit it in the car. My brother's going to have to come down and grab the air compressor, though.

Boy, I can relate to your troubles there tribbles. Billy's dad passed away last November ... there's soooooo much stuff still to go through (and so little time to do it). Here, have a << hug >> because I'm betting you could use one too.

First time adding a pic, so I've no Idea if this will work, but I spend most of my time in the garage looking busy while my wife is in there making things like this -

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Finished replacing rusty bolts on the ATV - primarily footwells and other plastics. Found a thin 17mm wrench in my air tool set that worked so I was able to change to a cutoff wheel. Of course I miscounted the number of bolts so I had to go to the store, again. Of course the guy who installed the skid plates used different sized bolts on each side (which meant drilling and repainting supports etc).

Also discovered the skid plate covering the frame is in good shape - but the one covering the foot rests are cracked. This is one reason we do maintenance - prevention!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

The latest PSC Bike Build winter project arrived!! All I have to share at the moment are a couple crappy "before" pictures -- it's a 1996 ATK 250 2-stroke dirt bike. If you followed the earlier Honda dirt and/or Suzuki drag bike builds, then you'll know why I'm excited to get this one going.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

today started out crappy, took a trip over to SIL's house to check a leaky faucet. fixed in 5 minutes

back home to cut the grass, and trim

picked up a salvage exterior door from the SIL, and decided to replace my rotted wooden man door on my garage.

couple hours later it's done, and looks much better than the one that was there before.

stuck a new "club" decal on my s-10 blazer

cleaned up most of my mess from the door install, fired up my harley and went for a little ride..

now i'm gonna eat chili dogs and drink beer :spit:

Reinforced a shelf I built hastily to hold my helmets. Stole some ideas from GJ of course. Picked up some dirty old plastic bins at the flea market - rainy day project to sort all my fasteners.

Got my benches cleared off today, got my vice mounted on the bench, and got some stuff cleaned up and put away off the floor.

Still got some things to do in there, but slowly but surely.

Nice. BTW, I grew up in Murrysville just down the road from you.

Today I got my track plastics and motorcycle stands put up and out of the way. Got the majority of stuff at least semi-organized. About as good as I can get until I build more storage/workbenches.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Helped my friend grease, or rather attempt to grease the front drive shaft on his 2010 Ram 2500 6.7. First time his truck has been in my garage since he put the 6" lift on and 33's. JUST FIT. I had to take the garage door off the top guide and move it all the way back towards to the motor to get the last few inches of clearance. Made it through with a inch to spare with me holding it up. Makes me happy my 06 Tundra on 33's with a 3' lift fits easily. Silly door.

Anyways, finding the needed fitting on the joint was very tricky and after finding it, it was apparent that the skid plate had to go. Go it off and tried to fish the 18 gauge needle adapter on, no dice. Was not happening, 18 gauge was too big. Quick trip to NAPA and had a higher gauge needed to try and get into the hole. NO way at the angle that this thing was going in.

Lots of internet research says it needs to be greased at 7500 miles and he was getting horrible front end vibrations after the lift. (Alignment was done) So... center cross member came out. Few jack stands, one jack and 7 bolts off with the MG725 and it was out of the way. Easy straight shot into the grease hole.... right? Wrong. Using my Lincoln grease gun, the needle fitting that I bought was a straight Zerk fitting. Since the gauge of the needle was so small, all the grease was just shooting out around the zerk fitting area before it could make it through the needle tip. Looked online and saw that I need the one piece assembly. Doh! Oh well more tools :)

So, with almost everything we could of taken off already disassembled and the fact that he needed to replace his cardan and u joints on the front drive shaft anyways we just took the drive shaft off. 8 bolts later his front drive shaft is now sitting on my garage floor while the new parts come in. Good news is, no more front end vibrations.

Only took one picture, thats my dog Nova (lab cross) helping out :)

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I accidently ran the loader bucket of my tractor through the metal siding. The bush hog was out of adjustment and swung toward the building. When I tried to correct the corner of the bucket caught the edge an ripped a hole right through. Damned! Now I have to replace two fourteen foot long verticle sections (3' wide).

Do you have a 675? I ask because those track plastics look like that's where they belong to?....

Mine... Street and Track :)

Old picture though.

Put a little bit of license plate art on the wall thanks to an idea from GJ.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I worked on the engine for my 68 VW bug. 1641CC,9.0-1cr, SLR cam and lifters, Bugpack 1.4 ratio rockers, home mild ported and polished heads with dual springs, balanced stock cranck with equalizer pulley and dual Dellorto (or Weber I have both but can decide which use) 40mm carbs.
A good package to build a little screamer engine.
