Started putting some tools back in their toolboxes after fixing the water damage and drying everything out from when the rain overcame the gutters and flooded the shed via every drawer in my boxes.

Just snapped my second Dewalt pilot bit drilling through some 1/4" steel when it hit the second hole (other side of a pipe) a bit off center. This one is proving to be more difficult to remove... I am now frustrated and quitting for a few hours, if not more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I accidently ran the loader bucket of my tractor through the metal siding. The bush hog was out of adjustment and swung toward the building. When I tried to correct the corner of the bucket caught the edge an ripped a hole right through. Damned! Now I have to replace two fourteen foot long verticle sections (3' wide).

Hah.. ehh, **** happens, i did the same thing last year while backfilling/grading with a excavator on my brand new building!!
A little "oopsie".. luckily i only got 2 panels also.

Nice. BTW, I grew up in Murrysville just down the road from you.

Today I got my track plastics and motorcycle stands put up and out of the way. Got the majority of stuff at least semi-organized. About as good as I can get until I build more storage/workbenches.

Take that stuff down and spend some time and $$ making that place nice - or at least useable! Finish the walls, paint, shelves, cupboards......even some peg board would make you happier than that!

.....or you may have to turn in your GJ membership card and do what Teken does - a lot of talking but no pictures....LOL!

Oh I know. I got paint for the garage already. I am just trying to get it half-organized to do a bit of work in there first.

I'm not planning on an epoxy floor, so that alone may get me permanent-banned. Floor is too stained for me to DIY it and I don't want to pay for a professional. I've been thinking about doing carpet tiles, actually.

I know who you are, Nigel. I'm Hokie from the 675.net forums.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this time I didn't even put it together!!! DAMN MAN! Glad to see you on here as well!! ahahah

Nigel, good to see you really work in your garage . How is the floor holding up?

Scotty,

So far so good! Needs a little cleaning from all the stuff that I cleaned off the bottom of the car...lol But other than that holding up quite well! Even after some scuffs with the lifting arms on the floor!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Did much needed work on my 99 Ford F150 Daily driver it had a rough idle.
The Idle air valve got changed and replaced the EGR valve, removed the
throttle body and cleaned it . Sprayed the MRF sensor off . got it back together and it runs alot better.
And then after that I drove the Kia Sportage up to the shop and topped off the tires pressure, It don't get driven much so it was the parts getter today.
After dinner I did a little front end alinement and removed the gas gauge float from the 41 ford gas tank to adjust it and after putting it back in drove it to the store for gas and took it for a 20 mile drive around the block HA HA that is what I told the wife just going around the block. 65mph on highway 65 and 70mph on I44 speed limit 60 thru Springfield the old car did good even tho I for got to turn on the cooling fan it got up to 190* It was a good day. Not like Saturday had to work.

Found a smokin deal on a 1985 5' Bushog "Squealer" rotary cutter for my brother in law. We went and he offered the seller $75 less than the asking price and he took it. So we went and got a trailer and retrieved it and it now has a new home. Borrowed his Echo trimmer while my Stihl is down needing a new shaft, finished trimming after dark tonight.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

First post for me gents. Today, in my recently acquired garage, I replaced two broken wheel studs on my '07 Dakota truck.

For the last few days I had been hearing an occasional ticking noise while driving - sounded like a rock stuck in the tire tread. Then, while hauling a load of dirt, the ticking turned into a clunking and I discovered two missing lug nuts and two broken studs on a rear wheel - and the wheel was loose on the hub!. A few more miles and I would have had a mess on my hands! I just bought the truck a few weeks ago - the dealer probably had the wheels off for an inspection and didn't properly tighten them.

I've never done much mechanical work; I don't even have a decent set of tools yet so I had to go out and buy a 1/2 inch drive ratcheting breaker bar and 7/8 deep-wall socket. With that, and a couple of YouTube how-to's and the job was a cinch. Love having a garage finally!

Go check your lug nuts everybody!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Built myself a Thein Dust Separator today to hook up to my planer.

http://www.jpthien.com/cy.htm

Works decently well. If I leave the outlet open then it shoots some fine dust into the air, but if I connect up the shop vac then it holds everything. Leaves some shavings on the planer bed, but nothing terrible. Now I'll be able to surface plane the 105bdft of oak I bought for my workbench.

Finished stripping down another squad car, sometimes I wonder what the guys who did these cars did and how they can get cables and wire in places that no one can ever reach.

Of course i hope u know I was kidding, welcome to GJ!

Actually, that'd get you smart- points nowadays! Epoxy is not all its cracked up to be while vinyl, tile and carpet are great alternatives.

I'm not too proud to say that's happened to me - my own fault. Now I always check the torque twice after having wheels off!

80 WTI 55 CHEVY is that a Hillman Husky I see in the back ground.
You said you had a few project to work on, I see you been keeping busy.
The traffic lights looks great .

Gdday 41ratrod, you have good eyes mate, i have 2 husky's that one has a little engine knock so i need to pull it out and sort it out. Up until about a year ago i use to use it probably 4 days a week but with a top speed of about 45mph it was a slow journey to work. the other one is going to be a bit on the quicker side but it's about 15th on the list of cars to be done. cheers lee

Welcome aboard Mr. Donuts!! :D Your story reminded me of comedian Ron White's 'episode' with Sears' "tire professionals" a few years ago ...

Built a wagon for my son. Just need to stain the wood, paint the handle and finish polishing the wheels and it will be done.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Detailing car... Last coat of Klasse sealant... now I wait until tomorrow to wax...

I polished the the car and it turned into a mirror....lol

Went with different products this time and I'm extremely pleased.

Wash with Dawn
Dry
Clay bar
Wash again
Dry
light swirl removal
Polish
Seal waiting 24hs between coats(3 coats)
Wax
Then all the detailings of rubber and plastic. I cheated and already did the wheels, and waxed them, and did the whole under carage and polished the exhaust. As of right now when you touch the paint it feels like glass, the entire car has never felt like this before... I've come close before but took it to a whole other level this time around... ***** cause I have to do this process to two other vehicles and a motorcyle in the next couple weeks..hahaha
